yesterday i had stripped the driver's side of my car down to bare metal, and was going to primer first thing this morning. there was no rain in the forecast, but apparently the news was wrong as usual and last night we had some heavy showers. the whole side of my car has flash rusted. what is the best way to remove this?

Sand or steel wool it off. That's right, back down to bare metal. Next time make sure you have plenty of time to prime immediately after getting it down to bare metal.

Just prime immediately after you strip it. You'll probably be amazed at how much water is in the air.

I was once painting a Vespa in my garage and my wife was watering the plants in the front yard and just the mist from the hose blowing into the garage and onto the frame I had just stripped literally “flash” rusted before my eyes, and we have hardly and humidity here in AZ. Shocked

Then it will be junk in no time. If you want it to rot you can always sell it to someone who will actually take care of it.
