Hello from the UK..........Only joined today!
This is Ruby my 67 Bug registered here in 68, she started life off in another country which I am hoping to find out about once I send off for a birth certificate.
I bought her Nov 2003 and put a lowered/narrowed front beam and other bits and pieces to her, her interior was done using Mercedes material they put in the A Class series......
Last year she picked up two trophies at Show and Shines which was awesome, I dont use her every day although i seem to be using her more and more as a daily driver as she is so much fun to drive and always makes me smile
I have plans for a bigger engine hopefully a 1915cc she currently has a 1600 Twinport with Petronix Ignition but she flies along.....Disc brakes on the front and then end of the summer I intend to take her off the road for a new paint job as she was painted 6 years ago now. 5 years ago she was found with chickens living in the back of her at a disused barn!!
I have suffered with an illness since 2000 and since my purchase of her she has really made me start to get better. Been into VW's since I was little my Dad having a 63 Bug as our family car, my first BUG JAM here in the UK was 1989 when I was 16
I love everything about owning a VW, the commeradery, the awesome and specials friendships you make both here in the UK and across the pond....
In the weeds...and winning my clubs best Type 1 Show and Shine 2004

I think she's taking it off the road to paint it... not "off-road"..?
Looks like a good car though! |

Sorry I meant to say will be taken off the road for a few weeks to be repainted...am thinking of doing something different as well. What i really want is the big engine in so I can take it to the Santa Pod Raceway and do Run What ya Brung up the quarter mile strip!
Illness - I had a son in Jan 2000 and ended up in a coma having him....left me with neuirological problems and was diagnosed with M.E. but since getting this bug she has helped me get better, I make myself get up and go out to my meets and has given me some wonderful and special friends.
You are right I was in the July Volksworld!
