|
|
Hi there,
Can someone tell me what my van is. I've recently imported it from CA.
I think it's got lots of different bits in it, but what are the majority of bits from? It's got roof mounts and a bed like a Sundial. But someone suggested it looked more like a roadrunner.
The seat next to the fridge looks like it's been built on a new frame, within wooden supports that touch the bulkhead.
Also, does anyone recognise the registrations mark - I'd love to find out if there are any previous owners about. The title says a previous owner was ' 4XWV276, Geoffrey Spach from Clovis CA'
Specific interest are the 2 pages of pictures in the 'what_is_my_van' folder in the following location:
http://www.freefotofile.com/ims/album.php?u_id=4jJoPG
.
Some of you might be interested in the contents of the other folders (what_is_this_box and what_are_these_cabinets_from). Basically, I've got some extra cabinets and a strange box, all from US campers that I've picked up and UK shows. Meant to be from a Sundial - but I'm not sure. Those 2 cabinets are fixed together - and I've got no idea how they would go in a van and still enable you to get a bed in!
Any help identifying what I've got would be very useful.
thanks in advance ,
Rich
thanks,
Rich |

I'm gonna go out on a "limb" here and say: It's a Sundial......but not 100% sure, looks like someone in the past "re-covered" some of the original wood paneling or replaced it alltogether. The bed though, man, I dunno know, the upright bars on the backside say "sundial" to me, but yet the mechanism is definatley not Sundial (should be round tubing, like pipe for the supports). Pretty cool camper either way, very useable in the shape it's in. As long as it can sleep two and cook 'em dinner, thats all that matters right? |

The Bed is EZ Camper. Same as the one I have, except it looks like the material on yours has been recovered. _________________ 60 S0-23 Westy |

not a Sundial. Lots of hodgepodge bits in there. The wall paneling has been replaced. The cabinets do resemble EZ though with the rounded doors and the trim. _________________ http://www.sundial-camper.com |

I agree with SundialCamper, lots of different looking stuff in there. I'd say it was a EZ. The table matches the one in mine as well. Looking at the outside of the bus, it looks like it was orig a Panel and the camper windows were cut into it. Which both EZ and Sundial, used Panels to convert a lot. _________________ 60 S0-23 Westy

not an EZ Camper. Look at the z bed and see if there are any stampings on the frame. |

That's funny because I was leaning toward EZ camper windows, but the cabinets look Westy in nature. Perhaps it was once an EZ and has since been rebuilt inside? It definitely looks new enough to suggest that.

I thought the cabinets did look a little westy-ish myself. They all match and they look quite old. |

im going to throw in my 2 cents here and say that its none of the ones listed and call this camper interior as being a SPORTSMOBILE.

That interior looks identical. The cabintes match and the interior light do to. Could be a winner here!
Hmmm. Sportsmobile - can't say I've ever heard of this type of conversion before!!!! |

The cabinets and paneling do look to match swervyjoe's sportsmobile. It looks like his has the same small cabinet in the rear driverside corner. But you looks to have a different bed.
swervyjoe's
Notice his doesn't have the same channels on the back of the seat. _________________ 60 S0-23 Westy |

Sportsmoble...that's the one out of Indiana, correct? I think they did the occasional poptop for Riviera.

I have a Sportsmobile conversion. The cabinets that are made out of "Micarta" formica are from Sportsmobile. The wood stuff must be something different. Lights sportsmobile also. My walls were covered with wallpaper not paneling like yours.

Yup. Definetly sold on the main conversion being a Sportsmobile.
Don't suppose anyone knows roughly how many of these were made. Sundials/EZs and Rivieras are quite thin on the ground here in the UK, so I guess I might have one of the only Sportsmobiles here. |

Yours is only the 2nd one I have seen. Swervyjoes is the other one. Here is a picture of mine but it does not show interior to well. I used to have some interior shots of it in the gallery but they are gone now. Will try to post some again. I took the ice box out of mine. Took up to much space and did not work good.

Hey, just ran across your postings here...
Looks like you bought my camper I used to own. Geoffrey Spach, Clovis, CA.
I would love to see some pics to make sure... then I can maybe clear a few issues up about it. I sold it to a guy in Oakland, CA. and never knew what happened to it since then! Wish I never sold it!
Cheers! |
