I just purchased a 1981 Pickup and want to do some upgrades, starting with the seats. Does anyone know what seats from other VW models will fit without any welding or serious modifications. I really like seats with high bolsters on both the top and bottom portion of the seats (like those in a an MKII GTI). Im a newby to pickups and VWs in general, so any help would be appreciated. |

I'm pretty sure any Mk1 seat will work; Rabbit, Scirocco, or -84 Jetta. I've heard that Mk2 and Mk3 seats will fit too, but can't substantiate that. _________________ Organized people are just too lazy to look for stuff

mk1 seats work and mk2 seats will work to but you have to be careful with the mk2 seats. I put mk2 jetta seats in mine and I had to change the seatbelts. also try to get seats from a 2 door car so you have the release lever that lets you get behind the seat. My seats were from a 4 door jetta and I could never get things out from behind the seat when I would drop somthing back there. the seats I put in were really cushy and even had the lever that allowed them to be lowered in the back, not the recliner part, the rear of the seat actually droped down like in a GTI or a GLI. theese are the worst seats to put in if your a tall guy like me because it is about 2-3 inches taller and closer to the wheel. it took up all my room.
I finally found some base model vinyl seats that gave me the room I needed.
I hope this helps |

Does anyone know if this swap is possible? I have located a couple of good candidates for seats in 1999 passats and a 1999 jetta. I don't mind doing a few minor bracket adjustments, mostly worried about the width of these newer seats.
Thanks |

Newer seats are wider, and the tracks are totally different from A rabbit truck to a 99 model. _________________ I will never lie, but sometimes the truth changes.
