okay,here's the deal.

had my paint mixed a couple years back when we thought the project was not going to take a half century to complete Rolling Eyes and the local PPG shop scanned my ashtray w/the computer and mixed off that. the computer brought it up as "willow green" and I forget what manufacturer
it was for. the color looked pretty dead on but still.

he said for them to mix the OG vw color that I would need to know the specific tints and all used not just the code # because their computers didn't have anything past the mid 70's in it.

so,anybody can help me out or put me in touch w/a paint shop that can,I'm willing to make long distance calls and do some leg work to talk to the right folks. I guess I should call alex tomorrow too.

then again maybe I should just roll w/the dice and "GIT 'ER DONE!" but for noe it's time to go out in the garage and put the roller wheels on it and yank the motor so I can flip it on it's side and patch a small spot and redo the por-15. if all goes well she goes back to the shop in the next day or so Very Happy

This page http://www.3riversvwclub.com/paint_chips_and_mixin.htm might help.
Or this http://66.34.72.138/techinfo/ppg.html will give you the PPG code.

I'm pretty sure it won't come out right if you mix modern paint using the original paint amounts.

Make sure you take the "willow green" paint can with you, and have them put it on the shaker. This will get it mixed up again so you can do a proper comparison. A good paint supplier will be more than happy to do this for you. Cool Also, try and get a similar type of paint for your comparison, like enamel and enamel, BCCC (Base Coat Clear Coat) and BCCC, as they will have similar shines when tested. Otherwise one will shine, and the other will be flat, until it gets some clear put on it (BTDT). Good luck, and post some pics. Very Happy I hope this helps.

yeah,i've got access to a shaker so it's been shaken a few times since I bought it but i'll be damned if my bottle of hardner hasn't been misplaced Mad

I was gonna take my quart can of willow w/me to see how different the label on it compared to what the comp says to use for tints and what %
for the SB and do a side by side color test. finally got me a compressor at the house now Dancing I can paint some small pieces here to see how they'll compare applied.
