Alright, I know some of you guys here have done this conversion before. I've cut out the headlight area from old bug fenders (buckets and about 3" all around) and I cut out the headlight area in my late type 3 fenders and I was wondering how much (if any) of the area of the bug fenders you used for this conversion. It looks to me like I could pretty much just seperate the bug headlight bucket from its fender and weld it right in to the hole I have cut in my type 3 fenders and bondo it smooth. However, I may try to cut the Type 3 fender higher up to allow the bug fender to lend some of its curves to the type 3 fender.
Also (and probably more importantly) how did you work out making sure the headlights point in the direction that they should? I've got my type 3 totally torn apart (including all of the wiring).
Any suggestions would be helpful - this is my first major body project on any car and I don't want it to look like crap : ) |

That would be the method I would use. _________________ OGST

One more quick question, is there a vendor for the aluminum/chrome trim inside the door and the window scraper seals? I have the felt-type material that sits at the top and along the side, but pretty much need everything else as mine is all scratched and beat up. Thanks again everybody. |
