this site is Francisco Barone as well. I bought some sheet metal for my Beetle through them, everything went fine, they even took a personal check made out to Francisco, sent to Louisana of course....
The quality of the metal was great, Auto Craft from the UK.
Its a roll of the dice I suppose.... _________________ 1971 STD BEETLE- DD-1st car, 1st love. keepin' it stock! 1600DP, Solex 34-3 Mexi Bosch SVDA Dist NOW w/POINTS

I read pros and cons about Francisco here and all I ever have is very positive things to say about Kaefer Nostalgie...
First I always ask if the part, I want, is in stock. If it is, I place an order. If it is not, I don't place the order...pretty simple.
Generally the parts I want are in stock and so, I send a US Postal money order (sometimes a personal check). They advise when payment was received and when the part was shipped along with a tracking and purchase order number...Great communicators.
Man, they treat me great and I have ZERO complaints...to me, Kaefer Nostalgie is one of the best sellers on thesamba.
Just have clarity, up front and you'll have a fantastic experience. There are so many poor communicators here, on thesamba and they could really learn something from the way Francisco runs his business. I am completely satisfied.
Thanks Francisco! _________________ 5/50, pastel green 11G - SOLD

Ordered a few parts from Francisco. First off, let me say his parts are excellent quality. Great pieces ready for a show car. But his service has something to be desired. On his ad he states:
"2. Domestic Shipping: when you place an order with us you will only be charged the actual shipping costs for your parts. Most of our parts ship out from our warehouse in Alexandria, LA, USA.
5. Handling times: unlike other vendors in the US we will ship your order same or next day after payment is received or we will let you know if there will be any delay."
#1, I was charged $10 for shipping, yet it only cost $2.75 for postage
#2, I paid for my items and got a response within 24hrs that the items have shipped. Well, it took 16 days to receive.
Not knocking Francisco's parts, as I stated they are very nice. But if he's going to state things on his ads, he should live up to them. Unfortunately, his parts didn't arrive in time to mount on our car before heading to the Vegas show this week end. |
By the way, there is NO shipping warehouse in Louisiana. It's a lot of bullshit. Francisco is in Brazil funneling the parts to another anonymous fake (the so-called, Ed Krump) in Louisiana under the name, "Kaefer Nostalgie", who then ships it to you. This is why your and everyone's postage costs are inconsistent with Francisco's worthless word and also why your order(s) take forever to receive, that is if the parts don't disappear in the mail between Brazil and Louisiana, first. Francisco is a liar and still owes me postage funds which I will never see after battling with the son of a bitch over junk parts he sent me from, "Louisiana", which I returned to Louisiana which then ended up in Brazil with yours truly.
He/they are making it appear that "Kaefer Nostalgie" is some legitimate U.S. vintage VW parts house, when in reality it's a small network of trash based in Brazil, creating the "front" known as "Kaefer Nostalgie" which is just some half-assed business-name and address in Louisiana, and their avenue to cashing in on the global vintage VW community to get "U.S. prices" on their hole in the wall of Brazilian stock. And, then there's his shitty home-made heart tail light bulb-holders that'll fall apart in your hands. What a joke. Everything coming from Francisco, is coming directly from him in Brazil via the puppet-name, "Kaefer Nostalgie", in Alexandria, Louisiana (vintage VW capitol of the U.S. of course). NOT!
You do not want to buy from him/them and Francisco is not in the U.S. AND DOES NOT DESERVE ANYONE'S BUSINESS. K.-N. is just short of what I would consider undeniably fraudulent. Count on it. |
...must say, look for clarity up front and you'll know exactly where you stand before you order...assume nothing. Get the facts first and you'll have the best experience possible, is my experience.
I must say, I also ordered the heart tail light bulb holders and one did fall apart, pretty easily also and so, I fixed it better...my originals were worthless & un repairable...These reproduction ones were easily repaired...no one is perfect. I am thankful we have Kaefer Nistalgie to provide parts.
I have learned in life, if one is going to place blame anywhere, is best to begin with blaming oneself.
What can I say Francisco? Just continue being the best! _________________ 5/50, pastel green 11G - SOLD

I contacted this seller about some out of stock items, he confirmed they were out of stock. I asked if I could send the money and have him send the stuff when it comes in (I like to gamble). I wanted to be first in line. He said yes.
He sent me my stuff and it was correct and package well. The wait was not long especially considering it was autocraft parts not in stock.
Thank you. |

This purchase was FULLY refunded on April 12th and the buyer wasn't asked to return the license plate holder that was sent out by mistake.
Apparently the confirmation email from us that we had refunded him didn't reach him. But, he knows he has been refunded as we have proof of this in case it is needed. We have politely asked him to let this forum know that he has received his refund, but he has not replied to our request yet. Anybody that reads his last post may think we sent out the wrong part and that we didn't do anything to fix it, leaving him with no money or part. That is not the case. He has all this money back, and the original part sent to him. We would really appreciate it if he would confirm this here, but since he is not satisfied that the right part was sent out in first place to him, he may not do it.
We do not keep anybodies money. And we would appreciate a complete report, not just a partial one. Thank you. |

At the end of february, I ordered for $2414 at Kaefer Nostalgie.
The March,15th I received for $719 of little parts and a mail from Walter Santoni telling me there were 3 weeks to deliver the sunroof cover and the other parts.
http://www.kaefer-nostalgie.com/content/sunroof-cover-black-1950-55
I couldn't cancel my order dixit Walter Santoni and Francisco Barone because the sunroof cover was made to measure especially for me in perfect reproduction as they say on their website.
After several mails and threats (cf post from the March, 23rd), they repay me a part of my order, but not the sunroof cover because it was made to measure.
Several mails again without answer, I waited until the April, 16th, there they answer it was on my home way, I received the sunroof cover especially for me on the May, 6th.
This sunroof cover is made with vinyl, it comes from Wolfsburg West ($125) and they bill it $325.
I send back them a mail and they still have not answer, I think they are dishonest, just assholes.
If you want I have proof : pictures, mails they send me |

Friendly people over there at Kaefer Nostalgie!!!
Ordered single taillight brackets but decided after receiving them that the install of dual tailllight brackets would be a more better solution!
After minor and understanding conversation (only one mail!!!) the brackets were exchanged!!!
Thans Francisco & Walter! Whenever I need another hard to find part I surely come back to you!!
Perfect service!!!

Just wanna give a great big shout out to Wayne at Kaefer-Nostalgie!
Talk about coming through for a customer.
3 year project restoring a 56 Oval Indiana barn find, 33k original miles.
Needed a correct windshield, dash pod bulb holders w/ screw type terminals, and a horn brush kit. Wayne came through for me!
Excellent communication and follow up.
When attention to detail and a quality makes a difference on your build, call these guys!
