I have gone in jbugs a few times. I would not say they are dicks... I would say they are in bad moods alot and get irritated easily. It is obvious they don't enjoy their jobs.
Wolfgang was always a pleasure to go into... it was fun and they were always doing some project... and would be happy to show you. Lots of laughing going on in that store... love that place... |

In 2004, the first and last time I ordered from then they did not inform me that the item was back ordered, so after 2 weeks I called, they said it was back ordered. I asked why they didn't inform me that it was BO. The guy said that's not his responsibility and why did I wait so long to ask!
I happily use aircooled.net, cip1.com, cbperformance (which is not great about informing you about BOs), and blackgoldweb for online ordering. _________________ 1969 Beetle |

| I had ordered things from JBUGS on previous occassions and never had a problem. I ordered a carpet kit for my 55 Oval (with the carpeted center tunnel portion) and was told it would be 2 weeks as they had to be made up custom. No problem. I got the kit withing 3 weeks ,laid it out and found there was no tunnel carpet. I called them and was told their person who sewed these was back in Mexico for an emergency. Again no problem. I was guaranteed my carpet within 2 weeks. After a month , I called to find out where it was. This was November. I was told that they were behind on orders and would get to mine as soon as possible. December rolled around and I still didn't get my carpet. I called to complain this time. was rudely told that "All the Mexicans went back to their homes in Mexico for the holidays". I would get my carpet after the first week in the new year. Called in mid January. was told that my order was not a priority as their sewer was not back yet. Called in February and got the same story. March rolled in and I got pretty irate by this time. Rudely asked "well what do you want ME to do" by the manager. I said just get my tunnel mat that I purchased. I finally settled for a piece of unfinished carpet that I cut and sewed myself to complete the installation after 6 months of fighting with these people. I will NEVER buy from them again and strongly suggest other people don't either. |

| I live about five minutes away from JBugs. they are only good for small parts that are standard everywhere i.e. dash knobs, bugpack and expendable parts that normally wear fast. I spent about 1,000 dollars at the walk up counter and got a free interior dvd! horray! half the electrical parts did not work and they do not do refunds on anything electrical. ever chromed part i bought is rusting, even after polishing. i wound up buying 500 dollars of those parts from wolfsburg west. WW has great electrical parts with kick ass directions. go to JBugs if you want mexican/brazilian parts. The guys at the counter are assholes and are on the internet while you are asking for parts. The owner is pretty cool but if you are not an oceanside CA local forget about good service. |

You live in o=side, and still got shitty parts and service, so what does your statement (above) mean? . I went by there when in the area for work, and in about ten minutes, decided I'd never spend a dime there. Absolutly rude dicks for no reason. They obviously didn't want any of my money. Hot VW mail order must be good?. |

| From what I can tell, they make most of their money from their online service. Most of the shop is their warehouse, very small floorspace for viewing products. most of their products are on the walls. these are the parts everyone sells. taking counter business may be a nuissance for them. I completely understand, if i was making a fortune and being an asshole at the same time, why change things. VW Paradise is not too far away the the staff is awesome. Also a hell of alot more credit and reputation tan JBugs. VW Paradise is more of store than their online shopping. They put the customer first and have a full blown mechanical shop attached. VW Paradise and Wolfsburg West are great. BFY Obsolete parts is out of obsolete parts so i dont go through them anymore. |

I bought a new (not rebuilt) Bosch starter from them that was defective. The local parts store tested it and it was dead. A rebuilt starter from the local parts store ended up working just fine. Jbugs refused to even discuss a refund, return, or credit.
I will never order a part from them again. |

it's disappointing to see that JBugs has gone downhill. I used to live in San Diego and would periodically trek up to Oceanside to get stuff there. I wouldn't say they rolled out the red carpet, but I never got pissed or had anyone ruder than typical retail there.
I had good luck with ordering standard TMI interior stuff especially. They got the order right, first time, no problems, and helped answer some questions over the phone when I was installing it.
This was back in 2006, and always on a walk-in basis. |

I'll always look up a parts company here (Buyer and Seller Feeback) before I buy from any of them.
Lesson learned. |

Yep. I am looking for about $400 worth of shocks. On the internet, Jbugs came in low price. But I always check TS feedback, and on the strength of what I've been reading, I'll gladly go pay a little more somewhere else.
Memo to the owner: If it were my business and livlihood, I would be aware of this thread and would've been proactive on the first negative post. Too late for that, though. At this point, I'd apologize for past impressions, detail exactly what I'm doing to fix the business, and beg for people to give me another chance with my personal guarantee of satisfaction.
In the meantime, my bucks go elsewhere.

I bought kick panels that according to their on line catalog were correct for my model and year. It wasn't the correct part. I sent them 3 emails-no answer and then called them They told me they would need to check on it and would call me back-they didn't. I have better things to do with my time,
They lost a customer, I sold the kick panels and they lost alot of money in future business. I wouldn't buy anything from them and haven't for 3 years. They might try and get something ressembling customer service. BEWARE |

I bought a kit for my 70 type1 5yrs ago it was alright. I was on a tight budget so it suited my needs.
Recently I bought a complete kit for my 57 type1, tweed door panels, seats, mohair headliner, and complete front and rear carpet. When I recieved the kit it was complete but all the tweed seats were single stitch sewn. All but two pieces started to unravel as soon as they were put on.
When I called Jbugs there service person was like send it back so we can see if its your fault, so I am out the shipping for 4 pieces of seat covers. Instead I take it down to one of the local upholstery shops here in town who says its just crap product. I called Jbugs back and they said sorry about that we dont honor that, your beef is with TMI, but your selling the product why dont you back it. Long story short dont buy from these assholes they suck and dont honor there product. |

i've only ordered a couple things from them a drink holder and kick panels and received both with no issues. from what I could tell on their website though they mostly sell cheap inferior quality cal-looker empi type crap. I don't like ordering from places that sell mostly custom junk and low quality resto-parts _________________ 67 Convertible July 67 Yukon Yellow

I have purchased an absolute TON of stuff from Jbugs in the last six months. Bumpers, complete interior kit, all new rubber, running boards, too much to list. One of the bumpers was dented and they replaced it on thier dime. Bought the bumpers with the front turn signnals in them, one of the signals was wired wrong and fried some wiring and my blinker relay. I talked to SAM in returns, and he always makes me feel like I am bothering him. Not quite rude to me, but on the verge of it. Gary Boga, the owner, different story. Nice guy, replaced the relay at not cost. I still feel at times like he is in a hurry to get me off the phone, but at least he takes my calls. My latest issue is the louvered running boards that they sent me look like they have been rattling around the warehouse for ten years....dents, pushed in louvers, scuffs and scratches. I will be calling them to return them this week. Hopefully after spending upwards of $2500 with them, they will not push back. Overall, I like JBugs. NO PLACE is perfect.......but they work with me. _________________

I just ordered seat covers from them for my 67. The credit card was charged so I assumed I would have a shipping confirmation email. I hadn't gotten that so I called to find out the status on the items ordered.
When I called and spoke to some dick on the phone. He said that the shipping costs are charged immediately.
So then this section from their receipt doesn't make sense. Notice the part about the shipping cost:
43-1124-BASKETWEAVESEAT UPHOLSTERY, BUG 65-67, FRONT & REAR, BASKETWEAVE VINYL 1 $119.95 $119.95
Basketweave: 06-Grey
Shipping: Freight cost will be calculated at time of shipping: $0.00
Sales Tax: $10.50
I asked the guy if they always do that and he said YES. Granted, I just ordered the seat covers last Thursday but still, if you don't have the item in stock like you advertise, don't charge your customers for it.
We'll see how this turns out. They said that they should have it in by this Friday or at the latest next Wednesday. _________________ The quest continues... |

actually, that's not the way it works. they can authorize your card for the purchase price, but can't complete the charge until the products leave their control (i.e. handed to a shipper or to you).
anything else is against the rules and you can have them busted by the CA Bureau of Weights and Measures.
you might want to verify with your bank or credit card company whether they've actually charged the card or just authorized it. if it's just an authorization, they only have a certain amount of time to finalize it. |

Yup it is called shipping in place and absoutly illegal I know this because I deal with it on a daily basis with my job. Freight and parts must be offered for pick up before invoicing can occur. If you offer the freight for pick up and have a service failure that is another thing but rare. I am responsible for moving about 200 million a year in product and have to be very diligent. _________________ FUCK CANCER FUCK CANCER FUCK CANCER!!
