Yes you will probably have to cut them off.

Well guys my lower adjuster bracket broke and now I need to fix it. Right now I had to drive the bug 8miles back home on one adjuster. Ofcourse I had to raise the upper adjuster to pick the front end up a little to get home. My beam is narrowed 5 inches and with shocks. Will it hold up driving I like his until I fix it? |

I have a new narrowed adjustable beam 5" that I got with the purchase of a bug. I don't know who built it.
It came with the small bushings like these.
http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=C12%2D6524
I keep seeing the longer bushings and I am wondering which ones I should be putting in.
Thanks. _________________ 1958 PGSG Standard |

If anyone is out there getting ready to shop for adjusters, let me add my input. If you already know about how low you want to go, then that's great, the 1st step is over. If you just want a mild drop, maybe a traditional Cal-Look style, you can go with either the Avis, or the Sway-a-way styles. If you plan on going LOW...I would suggest skipping the S.A.W. style all together, and just go ahead and get the Avis style. The bottom adjuster bolt on the S.A.W.'s will just grind off, and if you hit something hard enough, you will end up breaking the bolt off, or the entire bottom adjuster. You do not have this problem with the Avis style. (Just speaking from experience..)

how did u narrow your beam ? |

So this is my car currently but it handles terrible as its only means of lowering is a beach buggy beam with welded in adjusters set at the highest point. So it can only go lower.....
Long story short I want it the SAME height and wheels as close to the guards but I want it to drive straight. What are my options?
I was thinking get stock beam, narrow 2 inches, new king and link pins, drop spindles (to fix steering geometry) and tie rod ends? |

Hey man,
I have never posted here before, but been lurking for years.
Mine has a 2" narrowed beam, new shocks and dropped spindles with adjusters.
Is lower in the nose than yours I think and handles fine, almost like a normal car haha.
I'll link a photo;
Edit; I was a little annoyed when yours came on TM haha, so similar to mine, and much less than what I paid. And over rider bumpers haha. Nice though man, where abouts do you live? |

Whats the difference with removing the bottom bolt altogether?
wouldn't that be same as the lowest setting..you know, just a little lower? |

Dropped spindles will put the geometry back to something closer to the way the suspension was designed. This will greatly improve handling and driving characteristics. Alot of guys run dropped spindles and a lowering beam. It sounds like there's aproblem with your beam. I'd get a new one. _________________ 79 super Vert

Hey guys i have a 4 inch narrowed on dropped spindles and 135s. I have a bumpsteer problem that I've been working on for a while. My drivers side tie rod is a little angled, would this cause a really noticeable bumpsteer? Or could this be due to a bad alignment. With a minor adjustment of the drivers side tie rod, maybe toe it in? Would this go away? |

I need your advice I got my 1960 bug, and its already lowered and the beam shorted. I would like to rise it up a little bit from the front because its very low and diffecult to put it on the trailer. Could I loose the spindl and take off the two arms that connected to the spindel and the the beem, then move the two arms one step down, and then connect the spindel again? is that going to risa the car a little bit? and is it going to work?
or any way to adjust the beam? any idea? the car almost 2 inch far from the ground lol
I put a four stock old wheels and tires to rise it up a little bit, but the problem they are no enough clearance to turn. The tires almost touching the headlight buckets. There for the old owner installed RBM wheels with a low profile tires. |

you cant index front torsions at the trailing arms. If your beam is adjustable, there will be an adjuster in the middle of the top and bottom beam tube. |

Do you mean I can adjust the beam by making it wider? and then my tires will not touch the headlight bucket while the turning? |

the adjusters are to raise and lower the car if you have them. When you adjust your front ride height, you usually have to redo the front alignment. |

I need to know the type of adjusters you have to guide you. There are usually 2 different types that could have been used.
They will either look like this
or this
If it looks like this one, it is not adjustable.
You will need to jack up the front end to adjust it.
