When you convert form fuel injection to Carbs can you adjust the stock fuel pump down far enough for the carbs or do you have to get a new one?

you can regulate the pressure down, but you are looking at running the fuel pressure from 32 psi down to about 4 psi.. you may be better off with a new fuel pump...

and sending your FI stuff to me Smile

Actually you'd be better off converting to a low pressure pump, either electric or mechanical.
If going electric, you can use the existing wiring to power it, but you should add a safety switch that kills the pump in the event of an accident. Rob one from a newer ford product out of the junk yard, they are usually located in the trunk of these cars, and they're cheap. You could also get one from a ford dealer for around 10 bucks. I think Toby has the part number for these on his web site, or maybe John J. will chime in with the number. Wink You'd have to look around for a good price on a low pressure electric pump though.
If going mechanical, then you need a pumpstand (the black plastic part), 2 longer studs, a pump, and a push rod for the pump you're using. Remember there are 2 styles of mechanical pumps out there, and they use their own sized rod (alt vs gen). Carbed type 3s came with the gen style pump that uses the 410mm rod, while alt equipped bugs used a 400mm rod. I bought a new carbed pump from my FLAPS over the summer, and it cost 23 bucks (federal mogul made in Canada). I hope this helps.
