no it's a bug with lines painted on it.

a true rat rod is "typically" american iron, sleds from the 50's. I love vw's but hate seeing the term rat rod used on them. my 2cents.

Yeah, seems now anything with any primer gets called a ratrod! I know it`s not really a ratrod...maybe just ratrod influenced!

I thought it was as gay as John and Camron driving around Vegas in a Miata???? But that's just what I heard, from seeing, a while back.

IMHO, the only thing ya got going for a rat rod are the white walls...

check out this site.. http://www.oldbug.com/dragn.htm
Diamond tucked seats, extended wheel base, and that shifter so reminds me of ratfink...

about 2/3rds of the way down on this page is another one. http://www.chevyasylum.com/cruisin02/0706/0706.html

Not to discourage though, at least your car isnt in the crusher...

if there is a john deere close to you, get the Blitz black for 35 bucks with the hardner and you'll be set. If any other color you like to see in satin, go to your local paint shop and order up some paint and primer. Run 3/4 paint, 1/4 primer and you'll get the color you want with the satin finish.
