As long as you replace like parts with like parts you will have no problems. The difficulty comes when you mix early style and late style components. |

I'm not totally sure but you should be able to remove it. If you can't then you need to buy a new pressure plate. _________________ Glenn

i belive it will be a problem, as the extra material will make the clutch always be slightly engaged. personnaly, I wouldn't rik it. ACtually, rereading your post, chatter, iirc is from insufficiant grab and a half engaged clutch would do that. so your set up is:
tranny: has the sleeve
TOB: late style
pressure plate: has centering ring
if that is true, you ned to remove the centering ring from the pressure plate. _________________ [email protected]

so what is the trick to lining the engine back up so it acvtually goes back into place? |
Patience. Also, you might need to raise the motor up just a tiny bit more, especially if you only raised the rear of the car. If so you'll need to angle the motor down slightly to get the transmission input shaft into the disc. _________________ Mike

Regardless of throw out bearings and pressure plates, does it matter what clutch disk you get? I have a 71 super but with an older engine and the front seal is leaking so now I'm sure there's oil all up inside there as it went from normal to slipping like crazy in a matter of days. But with the older motor, not sure what I'll find when I take it off. But will a standard disk, (such as http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=C26%2D141%2D002 ) fit no matter what set up you have? I've never pulled an engine before so not sure what to look for. With oil, is the disk the only thing I need to change out (other than the engine seal, of course)?
Thanks |

This thread has helped me A LOT. However, is there anybody that sells just the centering ring or do I have to buy a whole new PP. (the PP is fairly new, I just put in a new trans) The car is a 65 so I ordered and installed a 65 trans. Apparently somewhere along the line somebody had installed a newer style trans that had the guidesleeve for the TO bearing, so the centering ring was not needed. |

I think CB Performance sells them. But i'm sure they are "take offs" from ones they install and don't need the ring. _________________ Glenn
