***Hemerrhoid Harley***
LOL...if nothing else, you are predictable.
Seems to me that you need to decide what's more important to you.....Do you want to provide products and services you advertise, or do you want to blow your own horn about how wonderful you are while attacking, ridiculing, insulting, and calling names to any customer who dares comment they're disappointed by either your products or services? I'll suggest to you that it's probably a losing strategy to ridicule your customers for not being as smart as you are about repairing Volkswagens and calling them silly little juvenile names in discussing it.
I've posted all the discussion between you and I. I'm confident that I was respectful, honest, and reasonable. I can't say the same for you and I'm not sure how it's helpful to your business.
Still and all, John, I'd like to be reasonable to the end here. ....Would it make you happy if I just mail the needle/seat back to you if it ever actually gets here? I will, if you'd like and I'll even spring for the postage. It hardly seems worth all this discussion and it's obviously more important to you than it is to me.
Good luck to you as well. _________________ 1963 Beetle Sedan

So after all that huffing and blowing, you still haven't received the part you were shorted? It seems to me that since you bought the carbs from aircooled.net, that's who should supply the missing part. If you had bought them directly from Scat, then you would deal with Scat. It sounds like a reasonable expectation to have a complete set of carburetors delivered if you paid for a complete set of carburetors.
Since you were industrious enough to figure out the problem on your own and limit John's remedy to a needle and seat, instead of replacing an entire carb, I would think that it would be no big deal to send out another needle and seat. Look at it this way, if the customer hadn't figured out the problem on his own and sent the carb back as defective, what would that have cost? A lot more than a needle and seat. So if I understand the situation as it stands, and please correct me if I've misread or misunderstood,
John hasn't replaced the missing needle and seat that he said he would. Harley expressed disappointment over this.
John bashed him for being disappointed.
Am I missing something? Is there more to this story that we're not being told? |

Actually, Hortin, you've summed it up quite correctly.
In spite of all the huffing, puffing, insulting, and name calling the facts have not changed.
I received a set of defective set of carburetors. I never requested a refund, I never requested a service call (fly in or drive in). I took a part from my old carburetor to repair one I had just purchased and asked (politely) for a new needle/seat. I was assured it would be mailed to me on Monday (July 10th). It wasn't. I asked about it and said (again politely) that I was "disappointed" and all hell broke loose. Insults, fabrications, name calling, and false claims were thown at me from the owner of aircooled.net and some of his loyal supporters.
One other merchant dared to express his opinion and he was similarly (though not quite as viciously) attacked.
I've decided to do business elsewhere. Others can, of course, make their own decisions. _________________ 1963 Beetle Sedan

Okay folks, I want to close this out....
Today is July 24th. I received the needle/seat which the postmark indicates was mailed on July 21st. As you may recall from this whole discussion, aircooled.net promised it would be mailed on July 10th (almost two weeks earlier).
Anyway....I now have the needle/seat and am going to close out my comments here about my experience with Aircooled.net even though I notice someone has edited almost all the really disgusting name calling john has chosen to spew. And I am, as promised, willing to send it right back to John if that's what he wants. _________________ 1963 Beetle Sedan

| I'm not taking sides here, but speaking from personal experience. I live in a small town where the post office douche bags have repeatedly dicked me over on occasion by not picking up my mail...critical when I have bills going out. Is it possible something similar happened to you at your post office (or John's?) After all, they ARE government employees, and we all know how that goes, sometimes...at least in the town of 2,500 that I live, it seems to be something I have to deal with. |

Harley,
If you check your e-mail you'll see I said "I'll ship it on Monday", but when I showed up at work on monday I found we did not have it (remember all this was taking place over a weekend), and I did not get a part to the shipping guy until later in the week, when I found that we were out, and no more were available anytime soon. So I took one out of a complete kit to get one to you. I was never in any sort of a hurry because to send it to you BECAUSE YOU TOLD ME YOU WEREN'T IN A RUSH BECAUSE YOU GOT ONE FROM YOUR 34 PICT CARB, REMEMBER? IOW you already had carbs which were complete, but ACN owed you a needle/seat, so why the dramatics? You are acting like you were broke down in North Dakota on the way to visit your dying mom/dad and ACN is responsible from you getting to see your dying family. But no, you are at home and the car runs fine; so why the Big Show for a $3 part? I said I'd get one to you, and had every intention of doing so.
Our shipping guy tore his rotator cuff, so I told him "no rush" because you already had one that worked (check your e-mail outbox), the one you took off your old 34 PICT carb. Our shipping guy was not capable of shipping out anything that wasn't "urgent", and yours wasn't for the reasons stated above.
You are trying to dramatize this sitation for a $3 part YOU ALREADY HAD, making a mountain out of a molehill trying to save face, and I'm having to re-explain the same thing over and over and over and over again. Give it up already. Guys like you really push me towards quitting the hobby altogether.

This gets funnier all the time...
Now you say...***I was never in any sort of a hurry because to send it to you BECAUSE YOU TOLD ME YOU WEREN'T IN A RUSH BECAUSE YOU GOT ONE FROM YOUR 34 PICT CARB, REMEMBER?***
I've already posted our entire discussion. NO....I DO NOT REMEMBER telling you anything like you claim. You are, once again, making up something you wish I had said. You're a dishonest man, John.
I'll give you a chance to prove me wrong. Post here for everybody to see where I "TOLD ME YOU WEREN'T IN A RUSH BECAUSE YOU GOT ONE FROM YOUR 34 PICT CARB" as you just claimed. It's another bald faced lie. I never said such a thing and you know it.
You can prove me wrong if you can post it. If not, you're a liar.
Let's see it. _________________ 1963 Beetle Sedan

This is really getting funny. I missed this comment.
Tell me, John, are you in therapy? How on earth could you dream up such a statement?

you are just being argumentative....he didn't "quote" you for saying that, it was this thing called paraphrasing(look it up)....so...here it is....he said he had to break up a kit to send you one because they were "out"...you said it wasn't "necessary"....sounds like you weren't in a hurry to ME and any other RATIONAL person...which kind of disqualifies you... stop with the semantics, it is getting you NOWHERE...

That wasn't necessary. Telling me you'd have to wait for one to come in would have been fine. As it is, I was simply inquiring since you had said you'd "get one out to me" on Monday (ten days ago) and I hadn't seen it yet.
I must tell you that I'm pretty disappointed in this whole experience. My previous impressions about Aircooled.net were much better than what I've experienced with this situation. I hope it was simply an aberration.

Hey bugniva....take a minute to read what you're discussing. If you don't you only prove your bias and your ignorance.
He promised to send a needle/seat on Monday. He didn't do it. When questioned about it he whined about having to steal it from another kit. I said it wasn't necessary, but that he should have advised me he wasn't going to do what he promised.....I'm a VERY understanding customer. _________________ 1963 Beetle Sedan

i do read, and i'd appreciate if you would do the same...at the very least get my name right.... let me play your game for a moment...you say he "whined"....i don't see where he did....you also never said he should have informed you that it didn't go out....you are the one that is "fabricating". you can't even keep what YOU said straight.....typical when one doesn't know what they are talking about....and as you would say "you are a liar" and you are fabricating....you are the epitome of a customer that can't be pleased....you are right about one thing, there is alot of ignorance here.... you are just mistaken on where it is....the ignorance is on your part....you REPEATEDLY say John can't "prove" what he writes, yet you have YET to prove any of your claims....you claim John should have caught the missing needle and seat, you claim he didn't do the "setup" you paid for....you have been informed by several folks that in order to jet the carb for your application it doesn't require the carb to be disassembled, therefore he couldn't possibly have caught the missing part...you also said he didn't "test" them...of course he didn't...if he did, you'd be whining that he sold you "used" carbs..... you have made claims that you didn't, and don't even have the technical knowledge to back up....you have been slanderous and I don't blame John for being a bit upset with you....you are speaking out of both sides of your mouth and it is obvious to everyone reading that you have absolutely NO CLUE what you are talking about when it comes to carbs...therefore you can't be pleased.... incessant whining won't change that....you need to stick one of those carbs where the sun doesn't shine...be sure to move your head first so you don't poke your eye out... |

My goodness, you're almost as insulting as is John. Are you an employee of aircooled.net.
I'm not whining at all, just stating facts. And I've attempted to end this discusssion several times, but someone keeps showing up spewing juvenile insults...like you.
It was only AFTER John had mailed the needle/seat and whined to me that he had to steal it from another carb that I suggested he should have just informed me that he wouldn't be able to mail it on the 10th as he promised, but would do so later. He didn't do that on the 10th, or the 11th, or the 12th, or the 13th, or the 14th, or the 15th, or the 16th, or the 17th, or the 18th, or the 19th, or the 20th.......that's the whole point now. Why would he promise a customer he'd do something, decide not to keep his promise, and not bother to inform the customer? Further, why on earth would he make up some story about my parents dying in North Dakota? Sadly, they are both already dead, but they both died in Arkansas.
I was sold defective merchandise by aircooled.net, I was promised a replacement for a part I scavenged from another carburetor would be mailed on the 10th of July and was not advised it would be coming later. When I said I was "disappointed" I was attacked by the ownere of aircooled.net and an obvious following of excusers and apologists, like you, bugniva.
Do business with whomever you choose, you seem a perfect fit for aircooled.net. _________________ 1963 Beetle Sedan

Geeze, this is still going on!? Get over it, _52 you sound like an articulate child having a hissy fit. Nobody cares, John has a very good rep with a pretty high percentage of his customers. Normal people that realize the world doesn't revolve around them understand that shit happens.

Thanks for the advice, 73, but you've got it all wrong.
I am most certainly not "angry." Everything is fine. I believe this is a forum intended for "Buyer and Seller Feedback." I've provided a little feedback here on an experience with aircooled.net and its owner. That feedback has all been documented. Mostly, however, I've been dealing with people like you who were not involved in the transaction but nonetheless feel obligated to jump in and whine about my experience or viewpoint.
But I'm not "angry" at all. I'm disappointed in aircooled.net. Why on earth does that bother you? _________________ 1963 Beetle Sedan

It sounds like the feelings between you and John are pretty much mutual, so why not end it here? It's obvious you do not wish to do business with aircooled.net, and John could care less if you do or do not do business with him, so why not just let it go? You're not winning friends and influencing people here.
As for the missing needle and seat, I think I can speak for a number of people--John has pointed it out, as well, I believe--in saying if you located a needle and seat from a carb you had lying around, why are you bitching about the item that John sent you? Hell, if I found I had something lying around I could use I wouldn't be griping to an outfit that they owed me one, anyway, especially if it was no longer needed. |

| I have never bought anything from John@ aircooled. What I have seen is what has been written about him and written by him over the years. He is very active in the VW world. He is always there providing his personal experience with the parts he sells. If you don't already know, many VW aftermarket parts just do not work properly "off the shelf". They are always missing some nut, bolt or functional piece. Welcome to the aftermarket VW part world. He also seems to run his business with a moral code, not just a monitary code. If you have having service problems with John, he gets the last laugh. He knows what other vendors will put you through and how much product support you will get. |

I'm with Jeckler and DSF.
I don't think vendors deserve a medal for choosing not to rip people off. There are plenty of honest vendors in the VW world, many of which who don't have a short fuse. |

like I've said before, the relationship between a vendor and customer is a 2-way street. It is NOT the customer is always right (nor is the vendor always right)! I am thankful for business, but won't take an ass-chewing that is blown out of proportion, like this one was. Unfortunately customers don't appreciate the good, hardworking, and honest businesses that do exist, they are taken for granted, and taken advantage of on occasion.
We go above and beyond the requirements of a vendor, but I won't be taken advantage of either, and won't tolerate crap like this, I'll tell em' to pound sand. We are just as glad to have "lost the business" of guys who think we were the bad guys in this situation, I'm not sweating it.
Harley didn't get "ripped off", he didn't get a part missing from a kit fast enough for his liking, even though he didn't need it because he already had one! And this part was not one that is "checked" in anything that we do, nor ANYONE ELSE. Shite happens.
Harley, if you think we were bad give SCAT a call when you have a carb problem, LMAO. I can't wait to see your Feedback post about that one........
