Kangaroo Camper on a Beetle, circa 1971. Made by the Consolidated Camper Corp. of Passaic, NJ. I wonder if one of these are lurking in a shed somewhere?

Looks interesting! Seems to be mounted on the roof, so no cut in the metal?

Any more information about that camper?

Thanks for this pic!

Reminds me of the "Bischofberger" camping extension for the Audi 100 (in US Audi 2000??) type 44, even though the "Bischofberger" was a high top, not a pop top. Look here: http://www.bischofberger-motorcaravan.de/

And there was an other manufacturer, who built something like a "snap on trailer" for the Opel / Vauxhall Astra here in Germany. Heku car camp. Look here: http://www.heku-fahrzeugbau.de/html/carcamp.html

Nothing redeeming about the POS.

Seller says it's a " It is a real head turner, everyone loves to look at it."

I don't think they are looking at it for the reason he thinks they are...

Some think that if your beetle has a padded dash, it's an engine donor. Some think that if it has push button door handles, it's a boat anchor.
Do what you want. Ignore the elitists. Drive your VW. Enjoy life.

Looks like a nice, tight fit over the deck lid. Wonder how the engine breathes with a camper on top of it.

That would look really slick with a regular "Manx" style nose on it. I think.....

Isn't a dune buggy technically a illegitimate child of Volkswagen so technically a bastard?

Yes, they aren't factory and are based off of VW components so, BASTARD. I don't think you and most other people comprehend this thread. Things don't have to be ugly as fuck to be in here but, it certainly helps for the entertainment value.
