Trucks just seem to need T-3 or T-4 engines to me. The bed would be more useful. |

Agreed - can't haul much coal or lumber with that damn motor in the way.... But seriously, damn few folks build a VW based "truck" with the intention of using the bed for transporting much more than a cooler and a couple of lawn chairs...
I am in the middle of my second modified VW that would have had enhanced storage if using a pancake engine, but it would be wasted space anyway since I would never use it. And I would also have the hassle of finding pieces and parts to do a pancake instead of all the readily available type 1 parts on my shelves. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

Agreed. 100%. Custom builds are not done for their function, but for form. _________________ nothing |

It looks to be in good shape bit I still think he is dreaming with that $7500 price tag.
This also brings up something I hate - people who spam lots of craigslists with their same ad. The car is in San Diego, don't post it in the Phoenix craigslist. |
If it was for sale in Germany and it is in a REALLY good shape, I´d buy it. _________________ Sorry, if my english is not the best, as I´m from Germany. Last englishlesson was in school, more than 25 years ago. I hope, Google translator will be my help. |

Interesting period piece, but one has to wonder at the logic of sacrificing a bus to make a Boonie Bug. Less space, slower top speed due to lousy aerodynamics, etc. I guess if you had a wrecked bus... |

Thats right, but if you want to have something "unique", you build a car like that Boonie Bug or the Phoenix van or anything like that. _________________ Sorry, if my english is not the best, as I´m from Germany. The form of most beds on bug trucks looks like shit. |

Maybe, but they weren't built for anyone but the builder (or the check writer). Taste is very personal. _________________ nothing |

WHOA
That is ... kinda cool, in a way. Very nice paint job. Would be even cooler if it could actually go in the water, but it doesn't look like it can. I don't see a prop or a jet in the back. Maybe I'm wrong.
Interesting, nonetheless. |

Reminds me of "Runaground" built by Andy Saunders:

Some think that if your beetle has a padded dash, it's an engine donor. Some think that if it has push button door handles, it's a boat anchor.
Do what you want. Ignore the elitists. Drive your VW. Enjoy life. |
