Uh.... I have no words. Kinda cool, but you can't remove the canopy for other jobs that only a pickup can handle. Weird combo. |

Some guys brought this by my house trying to sell it (knowing I had several VWs). They offered me a good deal on the car, and the Heb kit was actually done pretty well. It just wasn't my thing, so I passed.

If it wasn't a Super and if it was an original convertible, it might not be that bad. _________________

This car that I've got started out life as a 1970 Beetle.... The roof has been chopped by 5 1/2", the pan was removed and replaced with a totally custom 2" square tube chassis, incorporating a Jetta 2.0 / 5 speed, inverted and mounted mid engine. The front suspension is Mazda Miata, so this car now has four wheel power disc brakes. The rear split window section, is original 1951 Beetle steel, crafted into an engine access hatch. This car weighs 1600 lbs., and is quite fast ! This car drives nothing like a Beetle, more like a race car. My plans for this car if I end up keeping it, are quite extensive, so I am entertaining the notion of trading it for another project I can handle for a much more casual adventure. |

Some people think they stopped making beetles after 1957. Some people think they stopped making buses in March 55, or August 58, or August 63, or July 67.
Some think that if your beetle has a padded dash, it's an engine donor. Some think that if it has push button door handles, it's a boat anchor.
Do what you want. Ignore the elitists. Drive your VW. Enjoy life. |
