I agree! I'd paint it all black, including the grill, and put a LS Motor in it. |
I got interested in the "gasser" thing by a buddy of mine who is gradually turning his 71 bug into a "gasser look". I have a Super in the storage garage sitting on a set of baja wheels and tires that put me so much in mind of a 40 Willys.........Still letting that one rattle around....Will be sure post it here if I end up doing it.... _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

Me too!
Wondering two things:
First, how are they handling getting the power to the rear wheels
Second, wtf is this gear and chain for?

Gear and chain are for steering.
An adapter plate could just as easily be machined to go from VW to some other bell housing as KEP does to go from VW bell housing to Subaru, Honda, Ecotec, etc, etc...
I've seen a VW motor in front of a 5-speed trans in a tube frame hot rod before.
Biggest question for me is why, if you're going to go through all that work would you waste your time putting a pile of shit VW motor in it? Could have just as easily mounted something that will run without exploding at the most inopportune moment. |

"These bugs" he says. Like all of them go for that. I own a bug that's rarer than a 21 window and I can tell you that nobody is going to give me $25,000 for it. |

Looks like whoever built this car probably knew what they were doing. I don't see what you're seeing here. |

The problem is not with the overall build, it is with the choice of motivation. What he is saying is, in his opinion, just about any other engine choice would have been better than an air cooled VW.
In this particular car and build, I tend to agree. Hell, even a hopped up 22R might have been a better choice. _________________ nothing |

is this supposed to be a Targa?
Check out the centercaps. Good thing they have that locking nut or I'd have stolen them already

I'm sorry, I see nothing wrong with this ride at all.
I think it looks great.
Also... Whats that orange thing in the background of the second shot??

Is that a fire hydrant cap just to the left of the tent pole? Forgive my ignorance.
