I always think it would be cool to shave the drip rails, but when I see it actually done, the car looks puffy.

How do you suppose those windows work with that door post configuration? Maybe you have to drop the windows to open the door? _________________ Gary

I believe Billabug's windows just clip in for some weather protection, when it was first built it was just open to the weather - a brave move in England, but back then we seemed to have long, hot summers. _________________

Some think that if your beetle has a padded dash, it's an engine donor. Some think that if it has push button door handles, it's a boat anchor.

That one is particularly bad because they smoothed over the roof grooves as well. Makes it look like a toy. _________________ Chris

Billabug took the "less is more" ideology to the extreme (and I think it's fantastic); No gutter, roof swage line, headlights fitted behind wings, tube bumper mounts, shaved trim, handles, extended sills/wings + no running boards, pillarless, the engine is totally smooth with a hidden carb, re-routed ignition leads, smoothed tinwear, wheels welded up and re-drilled with wave pattern, same with rear air vents...it goes on and on. It's had a LOT of work. _________________

Extra-large bug sausage caught on camera in Eagle Pass, Tx. I am always impressed by bugs versatility and how creative minds tweak them... I wonder if this one is driven standing up...

It's obviously had a lot of work. So has Snorklestang. A lot of the abortions here have had a lot of work. The amount of work is really immaterial. You make like Billabug and that's fine. I happen to think it is hideous. _________________ Chris

I disagree. Billabug, just like snorkelstang, is so deep-rooted in its time that it became ridiculous as fashions evolved. People who appreciate them are just nostalgic of those periods and what they represented in their lives.
A true "less is more" approach would have produced something timeless.
all the above, of course, IMHO. _________________ cars:

I wonder if that huge door opens - or is that a reflection looking like the line where the door joins the quarter? _________________

You are probably right, but the CIP wheel has the same vibe And one of the few wheels out there that doesnt change radically in the different bolt patterns.

Yeah .. I agree.
The new SS wheel ( Mooneyes Speedmaster Knock offs) is just about the only 4 lug wheel that has the vibe of an old 5 lug wheel..
If I were ever to use 4 lugs which is rare.. ... it would be these... with 3 bar knock off caps..

The White chopped car is not bad. The pan and stance are killer just lost a bit on the chop. I wouldn't be in to it for $4500 but maybe two grand [/img] |
