It sounds like you got a good deal. Post your impresions on how the Vanagon rides after you install them. Good luck.

I have seen them as high as over $400 a set, these are being sold NIB all day on Ebay by a seller from Ca., with shipping they were $238 to my door, I almost bought all his sets to sell on the East Coast. Wink

I will def. give my input after the install, might be a while, I'm kinda laid up for a few days. Did my part for population control and the boys are sore. Crying or Very sad

So are these the tc ( touring class ) or heavy duty?
I've heard of folks ordering the h.d. from bus depot and being sent the t.c. and saying it's a better ride than h.d.

I purchased the HDs about 8 months ago. I bought locally (cheaper than any online resource plus no shipping). Mine are the yellow/blue color combo that I belive all HD Bilstiens are. I believe the photo above is the touring model which is cheaper in price, though I have no idea if ride quality is any different than the HD.

I purchased the touring shocks from Bus Depot and a complete set of Yokohamas from the Tire Rack and I cant be happier with my purchase.
The HD shocks allow you to feel every single bump on the road and the touring shocks seem to ignore the bumps.
Also I noticed my CD player hasent skipped a beat either.
I think you will be happy with your purchase.

I just bought a set front & reat of Koni adjustable shocks for my 1991 I set the front to 360 degrees adjustment out of 720 degrees and rears to 540 degrees adjustment I like them but on rough roads like road construction zones rear are stiff / rough. I think I'll set rears to 360 degrees too next time I change my oil. I didn't think my VW needed new shocks. I just had money and did it. but the old ones were worn especally rear. I think springs fooled me. I love the improvement in ride / handling. for money I'd get set Koni's.

Well I am not a big baller for Koni adjustables and I too heard that the HD'd are good for Westy Campers since they have extra weight. I camp a little but I haul a small trailer for bikes/canoe/motorcycles and heavy equip. so I went with the touring class. I think my old shocks were Gabriels and they were total crap, sqishy on big rolling hills and small bumps jarred. Once I removed the old ones I compressed them all the way down, ten minutes later I picked them up and they still didn't even rebound back out in my hand!

I think that is a worn out shock. Shocked

Well I did new shoes in the rear and had to replace the old drums too since they were all scarred up. Eastern Imports had Brembos, so I painted them up and installed with new spring kit too, I think I used a whole can of brake cleaner. Laughing

Of course the Bilsteins bolted right up, the front is another story, have to get back to those later. Rolling Eyes
