Nice looking bus. Since the owner is posting on here, maybe he could fill us in on what happened between this photo:
And this photo:
As in, how was the old paint dealt with, was is scratched and primered, DA'd off, or chemically removed? This is an important detail, along with more info on the painting process. It might help sell the bus. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

The center bulkhead needs a few more screws installed in the middle, maybe about 2" up from the bottom trim. There are three - the bulkhead panel is predrilled, but you'll have to remove it to see where the screws go. Also, the fabric should splay out and get tucked behind the side panels. This is what keeps it from puckering out at the bottom. Easy fix.
Sorry Rob, my fault, I should write and include a how-to on installing the bulkhead set, most people find those panels challenging.
This is from a mango bus but the hole placement along the bottom is the same:
It looks like the bus turned out nice. Good work. |

I know the seller is here and most people don't want to call out problems in front of them. But why painted hub caps, no ash trey on bulkhead, trim on bottom of bulkhead panels, cheap Brazilian battery tray replacement, heat seamed seat covers, Oh and what is that weld under the pass side engine vents? to go this far into a resto and miss some things by a mile really hurt the final product and return on your investment. |

Man, little things really bother you guys eh? Chill out, it's just seat covers! I've never seen so many people tilt off so hard.
At least they have seat covers, half the buses in the ads don't even have seats, or, FLOORS! _________________ "There is only one sin; disconnection from self." |

I think that when asking what I consider absolute top dollar for a standard bus, there should be very few things that are incorrect. 75 large is a lot of money for complete correctness. It's even more for sort of correct. And seat covers are a huge deal on a bus like this for enthusiasts. Especially if the first thing you see is not correct on the interior (heat seams and wrong piping). That's a good chunk of change to make correct. And this is only my opinion, but I think the days of $75,000. non barndoor standards may be long gone. _________________ 53 Hatch Barndoor

Seat covers and interior bits can be changed.
Mismatched doglegs a little difficult and a major expense. |

The photos are deceiving. I am away today for work, the doglegs were both bought from WW, and are identical. I will take pictures when I get home, and respond to each question asked. You guys are a tough bunch!

Sorry y'all, ignorance post - I am trying to learn - do we define these body terms anywhere on the site? Dogleg, outrigger (I think I know what these are but do not yet recognize any difference in what you are pointing out here). Rockers and bulkheads, got those down . _________________ Currently on the hunt for Split Window Bus for Sunday driver; former: 68 Kombi, 72 Westy, 73 Auto, 71 412 Squareback. Site sells parts, but it shows almost everything for a bus plus nice green pictures and applicable years etc. _________________ "There is only one sin; disconnection from self." |

Agree with that.
In the past when cars were being picked apart I (and others) have said that stuff like the wrong air cleaner, missing clamps, the little stuff is interesting and valuable to post to give an idea of what is "correct" but in the big scheme of things who cares, you can fix that stuff in a weekend.
Seat covers... a little bit more work and expense and should be a hit on value, in my opinion.
Bodywork/painting... I consider these things to a big issue and expense. Fix it, then try to paint match, OUCH _________________ How to Post Photos

This sure looks like a Fat dog leg:
The one on the bus looks Fat... but the replacement on the floor sure looks Thin.
Looking forward to those better pics.

This picture is well done, but it really should be '63 not '62 since most people think in terms of model year. Most '62s had fat lips. _________________ Please buy my Treasure |
