Not realizing this was about 20 pages back, I started a new thread, but will continue here. This went for $24,600 on ebay.

Some have mentioned that the info from the M-Code Plate have this being a unique varient, but to what avail? Having a very good idea of what the Bus would cost to restore, with, or without the fire damage, what is the buyer going to do with this? Are there $24K worth of parts remaining on this? They're not going to make any money getting it restored to resell. Are they going to put the M-Code Plate on a 13 Window Clone of a Deluxe 21 Window? Anyone seriously looking into a 21 Window may want to keep the VIN# of 247037768 on file for future reference. |
They are probably going to fix it up real quick for a flip and never tell anyone it was burned up.
This has happened before... |
Doesn't a "quick flip" entail investing very little money into repairs to sell for a large profit? With the roof being severely warped, no rag top, no glass, or interior, this isn't something you put POR on the rust, and send it to Earl Schieb. The body/paint work to make it look like it has an Earl Schieb paint job is going to run them $30k+. What's the glass, ragtop, and full set of seats go for a Deluxe now adays? I don't see how they are going to flip anything except the food they're cooking over the stacks of $20 they would be burning to attempt a half assed repair. |

Wasn't this one for sale elsewhere recently?
I think the term "daily driver" is used way too freely these days.... _________________ still driving the holy snot out of buses |

Maybe the truck that tows it is his daily driver?
I like his driveway
Whenever I see photos like this I think about the excitement I would feel if I was just driving around and saw a house with all of that in front. _________________ How to Post Photos

Oh dear. I've been doing it all wrong. Fixing up my Jan 56 bus stock, when I should have painted it yellow and put a Jetta motor and later lights on it. |

Here's the same bus, still listed here as of today. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1740996
Now, the questions: Did it really sell on ebay? Is the seller just too lazy to remove the ad from the Samba? Is he waiting until he actually gets the money from the sale? And, most importantly, how happy could he be with the ebay sale when he turned down $30K when he first posted here (or was that just a BS shill comment?) |

Ouch, ... Meth? ..scheme? ...I work hard 7 days friends, I've been itching to try this for years. Got this bus home first part of Feb..
Just thought it be cool to save a few early kombis from the real scheme threat. Cloned original split 11, 13s , ..even 15s going for 20 & 30k? ..and I'm the scheming Meth head?
Time on this is my r&r folks. It will fund better quality tooling, parts and materials for my customer's projects.
Thank you to those who spoke positively on my behalf.

Nice looking 1963 clock but wow, expensive! |
. People do tend to lose the plot on eBay , I bet two people put in high bids to guarantee winning in the closing seconds and the winner probably thought "shit I didn't think it would go that high" 😳 Nice clock though! |

Hmmmm, good catch on those gates - that is strange.
Cut down I guess as Binz gates do not fit later Double Cabs. _________________ How to Post Photos

Thanks, easy e, for your comment.
Ill say just one last and then shut my chatter.
...do those of you who made the derogatory remarks about this bay to split conversion, my name, and my character, ..do you really want to be the people behind those usernames when this bus begins to show its potential, when I start rebuilding my reputation as an honest, dedicated craftsman ?
Is it that impossible to consider this as an example of a mans passion for ..lets say, something more rewarding than operating a shamwow? |

Yeah people can be quick to judge, especially in the "whine" thread. The idea of a bus like this is kinda iffy to folks because you see a lot of wild custom jobs that end up getting scrapped or whatever. But, I think this one could potentially be really cool. A bay converted split 21 that you could drive and have fun in without the worry that comes with driving (and leaving unattended in parking lots) a 100k vehicle. I would totally drive that and be proud of what it is, a really unique custom bus. _________________ "A rolling bus gathers no rust." |

I think he was establishing the concept. Of a brick on wheels that is carrying the other goods needed to do 80+.
... ie good ball joints, tight steering knuckle, low posture, uncracked tires, shocks, trans (stock wouldn't do 80+).
Its a fair statement.
The list could go on for a road trip.. its a sharp bus as far as I can tell.
Have a good engine? That bus might actually use it? |

just an update. I received a txt from mike( the owner of the nos one that was for sale for $1500 on here) Stating that he had received an offer of $1200 from a uk buyer for his clock. He wanted to know if i thought he should take it. He said he was having a hard time parting with it because he liked looking at it so much. I instructed him to take the money and run |
