Wow, what a gorgeous bus!
More detail pics should help ID it - a pic of the interior looking in from the cargo doors towards the back of the bus - including the closet and cabinet door below the bed will help. So will a shot of the ceiling wood, along w/ a shot of the two shelves on the passenger side in the up position.
Looks a lot like like a Riviera to me. The blue vinyl is a match, as is the faucet. All three tables could be spot on, and the spice rack is really close. Riviera's don't have to have the long window on the driver's side. Some Riviera's had the wood covering the "curtain rods" on the pass. side. Wouldn't have come w/ the Riviera tent strip w/ that roof rack.
What makes you think it's not? |

I don't think it's a Riviera because of the trim around the mirror and underseat storage, electrical outlet, shape of the curtain rod covers, and a few other things I am sure I missed. It also does not have the interior light. Vinyl color makes it look like a Riviera, though. No Sundial badge (along with some other differences), but if there was a pic of the back of the bed in the upright position that would be a give away.

Ha! Why would I bet against myself? Wait, upon closer inspection it MUST be a Riviera, as there is a rip in the seat vinyl exactly like mine! _________________

It has the same hardware for the closet, i.e. hinges, handle, etc... that my EZ camper pcs. have on them. But the closet door is rectangle shaped, and that wood/laminate looks pretty clean to be original. I say the camper interior has been redone utilizing the original hardware. _________________ '67 Kombi/EZ Camper

As far as the documents go, and from what the P.O says, the camper interior in 100% original, and i would not doubt it, it is identical to other campers of this type! In fact i think there are more of these out there then people know. I think they are often mistaken for Rivieras, and sundials. even EZ campers.. _________________ To his their own PBJ

That rear pic helped, thanks. I agree, not a Riviera although they were looking over Riviera's shoulder and copying a few things methinks!
I vote for a Caravelle. Which would explain why much of the hardware shares a similarity w/ Sundial (and EZ Campers as well), as they were all made by relatives from the same family IIRC. The sticker above the closet door should give this away. |

I wonder if David Eccles book will help with these types of things? I would think it would, but have yet to see one...

So which was first? Riviera or Caravelle? From what i learned from SundialCamper (Bart) Caravelle was the predesessor to Sundial, and the only caravelles i know of are 64's.......
