I did a search, but cant seem to come up with the right criteria for my Q...
Were the early swirl type 3 drums only in 62 63? are they the same size as the later ones without the swirl? My 63 has swirls, but my 65 doesnt, im pretty sure 64 doesnt either, or maybe it was a half year thing. Im lost _________________ To his their own PBJ

The backing plates are also different sizes. When I redid mine I found out that some left the wrong guts in the newer drums. I had to fab the new ones to fit. All early brake shit is a pain in the ass. _________________ Frank

Different slave cylinders. Super early had 20mm little later were22mm then redesigned for 64 but still 22mm. Like frank said diff back plates. Super early rear drums had oil slingers.
And one of my favs, upper left is AUS nos early slaves, lower left is OEM German and right is 22mm 64-65 22mm slave

Jason, I'm sure you noticed the different placement of the bleeder on the rear cylinders. Which one is the earlier version. I want to know which ones came in the Canadian 62. That was the whole problem I was having getting the rear brakes to set up right. _________________ Frank

The one on the right Frank is the early one. I never knew they were different till I took out the rear brake stuff on my 62. _________________

Thats what threw me on mine. If you look at the shaft the older one also looks like a smaller body with less piston travel. Thats why when I replaced my rear cylinder with the repop ones and repop shoes I had to trim off some of the piece that goes in to the piton to get more travel. _________________ Frank

Of my 64-65 stuff, you got alot of the little goodies, Tram got the big stuff. Most of the 5 lug stuff I have now is early goodies. Mostly nos or realy clean oem That pic of the 5 drums, 3 are nos and the other 2 I got from Martin awile back. I will probly never use them as I never drive the cars that much. But if I ever run into an incident like Jimmy did, I will be prepaired. _________________

I was in that mad state once too! But others need stuff to I got the nos ones with the 62 notch deal from Ed Economy, mr warehouse (greg) got the rest of the cool shit I left behind. In my deal I got nos slave cylinders and master too. I think all the parts I have are from an old B&S blowout 10+ years ago. I vaugly remember early drums and nos T3 trim rings going for cheap in a NONA classy add. _________________

I miss those NONA newsletters... That was a cool deal while it lasted.
I still kick myself, I gave away an early Type 3 pan (with all the drums) to a guy who was building a *gulp* sandrail. Stupid things done in youth... _________________ Phillip Bradfield

Tell you what put that nona sticker up for auction and see what it gets. I still have a stack of them about 12 in high, all the colors. Maybe Ill get to Hawaii after all. Now the shirts are hard to come by and tend to be fairly valuable. _________________
