Speedo:
Everytime I drive on the highway or so, I noticed that the needle completely stops at about 70 mph and then starts giving off this clicking noise, as if the needle isn't allowed to go past 70. The reader for miles works fine, it's just that damn needle won't go past 70....
Gas:
The needle is always resting at "R", regardless if my tank is full or half full. I've heard from a buddy of mine that I need to check the sending unit? How do I exactly do that? Another person said to clean off the needle that dips inside the tank... |

Speedo, I can't help you. Could be dirt in the mechanism.
As for the gas gage, it does sound like a stuck sending unit. You can get to the unit, by lifting the liner in the front trunk. Under it will be the sender in the middle of the tank. Disconnect the wire that is attached to it and connect it to a good ground with the key on. The gage should show full. If it doesn't the problem is with the gage or the wiring. If it does show full, then the problem is with the sending unit. They get dirty and crusty if the car sits for a long time. They can be removed and cleaned. There is a very fine wire that the float slides up and down. Be very careful with this as it can't be replaced. DO NOT use compressed air. I speak from experience. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

Most that I've ran into, are like this... a loose the ground connection at the top of the sender. What I mean by this is, there is a small spot between the thin sending unit wires and ground that will make the connection. Most times, a sliver of wire or something like that between that connecting point and ground will fix it. Be very careful in this area, due to the ultra thin wires for the fuel guage reading. I hope this helps. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
