Hey Hazet Assistant owners.
I am a 356 owner down here in New Zealand.
I have finally got around to digging my old 161L (i believe that is what it is) out of long storage.
It is well used and lost a lot of her paint, someone has done some modifications which I will photograph. I think it will be repairable.
I have a few missing bits.....
would anyone have any original Blue or Black knobs I could purchase, the later productions are nothing the same as originals.
Also missing the rod for locking while the trays are down.
But cool to see that the Porsche Factory guys were using the exact Assistant I have.....

thanks and great info you have posted and shared.

Hi Philipp, thank you for your detailed Pictures !
They will help me for restauration.
Surprisingly i noticed that both carts were roughly welded together. That could be a clue for production within the early 1950īs.
Will post some Pictures after Restauration.
Thanks again ! |

Hi guys, very new here. Just picked up what looks like to me a 161 or 162 hazet assistent. Hammered grey top, except the wheels and brake system looks like the older version. Two black knobs. I'm kinda confused on what it is, or what it might be worth. It is something I intend to sell, just want to get a fair price for it. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I'll get some photos of it tmw. |

I picked up these two the other day. From Johan. (Thanks very much. )
One on left is the older small 'azet' and needs a little work. It's been painted a very incorrect blue.
The one on the right is in great shape. It's the post '65 model with capital lettered 'HAZET' with non folding poles. Some cosmetic touch ups and it will be real nice.
Has anybody else got any of these little tool carts. ? |

Hi guys,
Has anybody restored the Assistent 171? I haven't tried pulling one apart yet but has anybody done it already? How is it put together - rivets, welded or what? Ie. can it be dismantled without damaging it?
I've had one for few years and yesterday I bought another one. They are both in quite rough shape so a they really need some new paint, rubber etc.
Thanks!
Here they are (my old one on the pickup and the new one on the ground:

Uh, are you talking about the Tourist round toolbox? If yes, then I agree. Did somebody think otherwise? Anybody? _________________ Hazet Assistent 162, 166 x 2, 171 x 2 |

My assistent is from 66-70 as far as I can figure out. I'm wondering how you remove the knobs?
I can loosen and tighten the knobs, but I'm totally at a loss on how to remove them, loosen them completely.
I can se no retaining mechanism what so ever.
And why would I remove the knobs? In order to lift up the trays for cleaning. |

The knobs come off by unscrewing the inner collar , it has two flats so a slim adjustable spanner will just about work , ,got a feeling they might be left hand thread too |

How could I be so blind?! I thought the inner collar simply was the end of the tube, I did not notice that they were just a tad wider. And I did wonder why the tube had flats at the end.
The threads is normal, right handed.
Thanx Bigplum |

Very impressive, did I count 16 of them? My eyes are not what they used to be. |
