Come on, you know what I mean. The split Bus forum has TWO lowering threads that are stickies. And by sticky I mean attached to the top of the thread listings. _________________ If you`re going to do something, do it right. |

It's in the top of the thread listings in FAQS/Sticky , it really can't be any easier. It's like opening a book to the index..... Do want the index on the cover of the book ? _________________ Formerly known in the forums as "OVALTEEN"

Can you give some details about your setup?
Which kind of beam, spindles, rear end, wheels size and offset?
Thanks you |

actually chief it's the most viewed thread in this forum and all it has is a link in the FAQ section. and we all know how well the FAQ section works....that is if people were to actually read it.
i agree that it should be in the sticky section. however the power of the purists is strong in the land of bay windows. they still think lowering is a "fad" that will pass |

Sorry. I don't check this place much. Hardly ever any action around here.
I have the Wagons West slambay kit. Narrowed 4" up front. It's lowered probably around 8" up front, and only 3.5" in back with horseshoe plates. I need to notch the rear so i can level it out. |

Love it. Any shots from below (if that's even possible?) how did you handle the brake booster?

this has been difficult to navigate through..
i have some 2.5 ww spindles. i was thinking of running a set of 215 50 17's (looking for a tall tire to help with gearing) all this on a 70 bus.
any issue this wouldn't work, or will it rub? _________________

The 215 50 17's are about the same overall diameter but the welded spindles add 7-12 mm, depending on year, increase to track width so check the offset of your wheels to make sure they fit. Might be some rubbing during cornering with more than one person in front. |

No I haven't. My 79 bay is more of a project than I first thought so lowering and new wheels and tires are not coming soon but I've been reading a lot on other forums that are more "lowering friendly". On page 207 of this thread are some examples of slightly smaller and bigger sizes on some bays. I would be more worried about wheel offset even if you're only using drop spindles. I'm no expert on lowering bays, though from searching most people are slamming and running narrowed beams with 17's. |

see, that's the thing, i'm not 'slamming' it. just wanted to drop it a hair and fill the wheel wells.
this thread is a mess...i have tried to read through it for the past couple weeks, and it seems that it is hard to find the info i am looking for.
back to reading..... _________________

Most retail tire store chains I've dealt with will loan you a tire for a day or two. Assuming long as it doesn't look used when you bring the tire back. Did this in '95 with a 14x10 slotted mag for my flared fendered 74 super. Took home two different sizes to see which looked better(neither). I did have to pay for mounting, $10 IIRC. Nowadays they would probably put a hold on your credit card. |

Much of this will depend on the offset of the wheels you plan to use. Finding specific info will be difficult because of the variety of offsets available. I agree with the above poster's advice about borrowing a tire from the tire store. If you have a good repoire with them, and you buy tires locally, they will likely help you out. _________________ nothing |

i have an account with k&w tire, as well as clown fair. the issue is that although the rim clamp machine i have is good, every mount and dismount makes the chance for damage that much greater. and seeing the tires have to be mounted with the rim upside down due to drop centers, i put little faith in the plastic covers protecting my wheels _________________

I can certainly understand the dilemma. But you might just have to break a few eggs to make that delicious cake. _________________ nothing |
