its been a few years since i posted on samba, back when i had a 63 notch.
the vw "bug" has bitten me again, and i recently scored an old fiberglass dune buggy, on a 66 shortened pan.
im trying to track down a few items this winter, so any help is appreciated.
im looking for what i can only describe an an "engine cage", but is most likely some kind of fancy rear bumper. i want one that does not stick way out past the engine, but instead "hugs" as close as possible.
anyone know what im talking about, and where i can find this?
also, i'd like to install a roll bar which attaches to the floor, and not just the body. is it best to just have one made? i would like something that does more than just look neat, and actually protects occupants in case of a rollover.
any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks! |

I have exhaust like the yellow buggy in the pic above. I have a skid plate and a chrome bar attached to it very much like the pics above but doesn't stick out as much. It's just a single bar and I think t looks good. I'll try to post a pic for you later today.

The Roll-Bar available from the Manx Store is probably the best bet. It doesn't attach to the floor, though. It attaches to the strongest point in a buggy, the rear torsion. For a single hoop, it's about as strong as you could hope for.

Here's how it mounts.
