Cool ride, Joe! I like finding places like that off the beaten trail too. Never know what you're gonna find!

The hat is cool, but it needs a spike in the top and needs to be chrome. Laughing

Today I pulled the gear assembly from the transmission to flip it back to the right direction(used to be reversed for a corvair motor). Just have to wait on my list of parts from CIP1. Hopefully in 2 weeks my seats will be here and I can get them mounted and finish the pan!

Replaced the carb and changed the oil,old carb had a open needle valve, full flow of gas into carb,Had a rebuilt from summit, german solex 34 pic3,put it on and it would not idle, vacume leak, base of carb had high spot at mounting stud ears, filed it down to get a good seal, also they did not replace the o ring at the bypass valve, there was no reistance when turning the screw, replaced o-ring and it ran well, after adjusting.

Look for a broken/loose clutch tube in the tunnel. Have someone work the clutch and you watch what is happening at the forward boden tube area for flex and make sure to have at least 1 inch sag in the boden tube.

Sunday drive. Went to the top of Gerry mountain. Was a forestry lookout. Has great views of the Okanagan valley. Had a bad shimmy in my front end at certain speeds. Found a bad tie-rod end so will have to replace.

Started taking it apart for the build! Removed windshield and steering wheel/shaft, disconnected wires, and broke the hood free from the mulitple layers of silicone sealant used between the hood and body.

I put a few coats of high temp brake paint on my new custom drilled and studded rear drums. These have the Chevy 5 on 4-3/4" pattern and fit my '72 IRS pan. There just aren't very many 4-lug wheels that appeal to me, and I don't like the adapters that are currently on there.

I used the Harbor Freight Iron Armor brand paint, and it went on nicely. I masked off the braking surfaces and sprayed the inside as well. I hate rust, even if you can't see it!

Nice WWII German helmet. You need to get a couple SS decals for the sides. Ferdinand Porsche, who first designed our cars for Adolf Hitler 'The Peoples Car' in 1935, was using Hitler's SS in 1942 to operate a special unit called, SS STURMWERK VOLKSWAGEN. Your gold helmet is a little flashy though, as the originals were a dull, light brown in color. You look right at home in your German Volkswagen !

Even though its "history" which we should never forget..., some of that shit just needs to stay in the past.. its what some say is bad JuJu...
Thats just my opinion.. and you know what said about those..

The helmet draws attention alone without any added attributes

If I were to letter the helmet, I would put Puzzle Manx on it.

IMO, if I had a Kubel, the SS would match, but the buggy did not come around for another 20 years and it would be out of place, to me.
