I picked up a standard, generic Dune Buggy cable shortening kit and couldn't stand it. The Manx isn't even running and after setting the brake only a couple times in the garage, the screws of the cheap cable ends let go. The parking brake cable ends wouldn't fit well in the park brake handle cover.

Cruising my local marine supply, I came up with this option that keeps the stock handle-end adjusters and shortens the cable inside the brake drum:

I was concerned about the new cable end catching on the spring, a short tube seems to solve the issue. Everything fits very well and works smooth as a brand new car. The new cable-end grips significantly better than the Generic crap!

While at a local car show, we had a chance to have pictures taken with the Manxter with Chelsie Aryn, Playboy Playmate for March 2015. Now I have to find the Buggies & Babes thread again. Tom

As with most days lately I didn't get anything done on our Tow'd.
But with the coaxing of Tom's pictures you wouldn't believe what I got done in the dreamworld of my nap this afternoon.... Wink

The Tri-Mil sidewinder was too loud for the kids, just installed the FlowMaster HP-2 shorty muffler on the tail end. Love the look and the sound of the upgrade.

As well plasti dipped a VW logo and tagged her on the back.

Finally got around to making my low budget buggy's grille a bit nicer. Back in 1976, when first street ready, her grille was just some expanded metal that I put into the original mini-camaro grille area:

Next, in 1986 when I aero-dynamic'd her front end (and windshield), I used flexible chrome plastic door edge guards with a VW emblem in the center:

But the chrome soon turn'd gray and dark in spots, ugly. Then, just the other day I noticed some old speaker wire conduit cover whose chrome was still bright and pretty, and no longer needed cuz the garage stereo has been wireless for some time now. There was just enough to make a 3-bar tubular-looking grille:

Today I was preparing to take my Buggy project to the Harwinton Car show. While pushing the buggy on the trailer I heard a POP coming from my left ankle. I brought me to the ground. Went to the ER found I pulled my akilies tendon.I guess I'll miss the show tomorrow, and be down for a bit. Crying or Very sad

I found out my windshield is on backwards. I tried to put it on right and found out the previous owner put it on blind and drilled through the windshield frame. I purchased the correct mounting hardware and hopefully I can get it back on by the weekend.
