project list goes as follows:
1.Paint rear fenders on wife's 75 Rabbit
2.Assemble wife's 60 beetle
3.Get Barndoor on the road
4.Restore or sell 55 vert
5.Cut up or restore 23 window
6.Restore 64 euro bug
7.It is now the year 2066, and I am very old and tired |
How bad is the 23 that you consider cutting it up? If it's in England then a 23 with metal above the swage line is a resto project. Put it on TheSamba and pay for:
1.Get Barndoor on the road.
Get the bus on the road and have some fun! |

The pic with the snow as taken in the spring of '91.... had an old Ford station wagon and an old Willys Jeep Wagoneer?? in the yard.
Attempted to make an offer on the '54..... but owner was very sick at time, I then moved ......so any possible contact was lost.... Then showed up in the local buy and sell in the mid '90s for $400.... which we both missed and somebody else picked up. So it ends up where it is today finally .....
I ended up with a '67 Westy in late '91 which I am very happy with ... so all worked out
I seem to recall first dibs on the fate of the 23........ _________________ Scott |

Ooops...... to respond to the original question it was never covered as long as I saw it sitting in the back yard.
Thank goodness they have never spread salt in the winter up here in back lanes.... _________________ Scott |

Looks like it got kinda fucked up inbetween when that first pic was taken and the more recent photos. Look how much paint on the roof was lost.....looks mint in the older photo. |

Paint colors?
I'm going to guess brown beige upper and light beige lower....... it is not a Kombi. Has original interior door panels through out....
Original pinstriping also still visible in places _________________ Scott |

Very cool bus. Sadly the only barndoor I'll probably ever get my hands on is the one already attached to my... barn. |

This Barndoor has a similar story. An old man had it and would not sell it! Was sitting in his yard since '68. He died and a local junkyard came in to clean up the place....happens a guy into VW's scored the bus.
