Hi guys. I have a 66-7 1500sp type 3 motor that Iam putting in my bus. It looks just like a beetle motor but a different dipstick. I figure I'd ask you guys since you know type 3's. I put my pulley on and is very close to the dipstick and my belt will hit it when I put it on. Is there a different type of dipstick for this? I have like a stock beetle pulley and a beetle dipstick on there if that matters. These motors have the dipstick so close to the pulley! Any suggestions will be sppreciated. Thanks. Craig. _________________ 1973 beetle |

sounds like you're putting an upright generator and tower on a type 3 block. the tpye 3 engine puts the generator off to the left, and not high up on a tower. you may have to drill the case to put the dipstick in through the case, rather than off to the side.
seveeral parts suppliers sell block off plates for the type 3 dipstick hole. there are also adapters to use a beetle dipstick on a type 3 case, which mount in the same place as the type 3 dipstick tube. |
