Well I see complaints from years ago, and these folks still exist and scam folks? How? I read of 10's of thousands of dollars being lost, and no fbi involvment yet? Seems like someone should have slammed them by now. _________________ 1971 Deluxe Sunroof Bay 1905 stroker, dual idf40's, 74mm Scat forged crank, engle 110 cam. Market says so as well as it's gone pending. I thought it was priced a bit high considering the amount of metal it needs (and no title) but somebody loved it.

wow, well if it sold for near that then I guess someone really wanted a big project mango so-23. These things are just as hard (read expensive) or harder than putting together deluxes of comparable years. _________________ drive your split. |

I'm sure a deluxe in that condition would be 3x as much. And yes they are hard to put together. I am working on one now and it makes me like my panel all the better. lol |

I agree the initial price of a deluxe would be much higher. "restoring" and completing that so23 won't be cheap. Hopefully the new owner finishes paint stripping it and puts it back on the road as a functional camper!
the most frustrating part of westfalias is FINDING the damn parts that are actually for sale (hoarders). If I had a deluxe I would just open my checkbook and buy parts off the classifieds here. _________________ drive your split. |

Very true.
Then when you actually find them you have 50 people that are standing in line in front of you. The market for earlier Westy stuff is super competitve. _________________ WANTED:

Lotta metal work done. If he paid to have it done, then he's probably into it for a chunk of change.

I'm going to say scam since a Google search shows it on multiple craigslists and also here

So it's it the consensus that this is a scam? The originator of ad contacted me to discuss purchase. I've yet to call him back. He swears its legit I'm just running the basis to see where it goes.
He keeps talking that he would sell it threw ebay vehicle protection to ensure I didn't have any risk. I've never used this service ebay provides so I have zero clue if anything this guy is laying down is true.
Yes I'm skeptical. _________________ Special Thanks to:

IF he calls you, and that's a big IF, tell him you're less than an hour away from him and you have cash in hand and a trailer ready to go pick the bus up. ...it's a scam bro |

I bet that bus was even worse than the pics show.
I've been saying for years that restoring a Westy is the hardest production Bus, other than a Barndoor, to restore. _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

SCAM! eBay Vehicle Protection === instant red flag!

If this is the same one as I saw in Chula Vista, yes it is really rough. Nose was welded over the top of the original body work with no attempt to smooth the seam. _________________ Larry in OB
