I posted this in Whines when the estimated price was $75-$100K, but it sold for $44k, plus the premium. That actually sounded good to me. I'm really warped.

After the sellers premium, he would have been better off selling it here. Selling at auction can be like gambling. _________________ ~Tarzan

I haven't seen this being discussed any where? a true 1952 deluxe for $220,000. Seems like a good deal compared to a 63 deluxe bringing very close to the same amount on the B/J auction. Sure some stuff needs redoing but is pretty complete and a lot of correct parts, some not. I think with another $15,000 invested to this bus you could have it very correct and complete. If I could afford it I would go for it.

Since the 52 actually made it to the open market, 220k must not be a good deal, for if it were the Barndoor gurus would have scooped it up and we would be none the wiser much like many other baller buses we never see surface.
But if you really want a legit 52 deluxe, and your not in the right circles, this might be the only opportunity to actually own one of... how many are there?? like 10 known? _________________ Fritz Custom Products

Fair at best. No pictures of the bottom and the roof looks like it's probably rotted is enough to make me leery. |
I agree. He talks about rust but won't provide pics of it. Spare the fun talk and describe the bus in objective terms rather than "typical." _________________

You're close enough, why not go check it out? Seems like it might be worth the trip. Doesn't seem like a good deal, based on the all the damage I can see in the pictures.
I'll probably call when I'm back in town on Monday. |

I drive Vanagons, but I thought I'd come here to mention an auction in MO 7th-8th. They have a couple of buses at no reserve.

Not sure what years, but I suspect the smaller back window means late 50's(?) Anyway, I thought I'd mention it to the Bus forum. Better hurry, looks like it starts tomorrow.

I don't know if I'd call that a deal, there's been a lot of work done to it and without more information or seeing it in person, I'd just call it a clean ex panel camper with shaved turn signals and the wrong upper panels welded in that still needs more welding done to it for a somewhat reasonable price but not a good deal price... _________________ 1960 L31 M183 kombi |
