No title and asking close to 20K? I would expect a 20K bus to have a proper title. _________________ WANTED:

I think the last 4 buses I have bought haven't come with paperwork. 35 dollar lein sale takes care of that real quick. As far as body work i think i would leave it as is and roll it. probably fix the front floors and go. Although the OG paint isn't nearly as strong it is comparable to several other running driving offerings in the 30k range. |

Surprisingly enough, California is one of the easiest states in which to obtain a clear title for a vehicle that doesn't have one. Most other states are much more difficult/time consuming/expensive. _________________ nothing |

Very true. I just walk into the DMV and say. "Hey, I've got nothing..." they say, "Fill out this statement of facts and bring it in for a VIN inspection." 2 months later I have a title. _________________ - Chris

I pay my dmv processor $35 to file the lein paperwork and notify all involved parties. After 30 days if no one claims it the car is legally yours. pretty simple propcess |

In Washington state, where that bus is, it's not so simple.
It takes over three years to get a title here.
Anyhow, the ad is now deactivated. It looked like a good project. _________________ The Obsolete Air-Cooled Documentation Project http://oacdp.org/ |

Titles are super easy in Arizona too, costs a few bucks and the vin needs to be clean. So who got the 65 double cab for 5 grand? I saw tha ad and it was late so I didn't call but its gone now. Green with no bed gates some rust but complete bumpers, engine, looked as good as the ones peeps want 15 grand for. It was in Pennsylvania. _________________ 1971 Deluxe Sunroof Bay 1905 stroker, dual idf40's, 74mm Scat forged crank, engle 110 cam. CB 044 heads, AutoCraft rockers, chromoly push rods

In California? I am pretty sure that in CA, they will only issue you a provisional title for 2 years. I bought my bus in CA in 1995. Moved it out of state to ID in 2002. Lost the title while restoring it. Never got it titled in ID. Moved it back to CA in 2014. It fell out of the DMV system and they issued me a provisional title, meaning for 2 years if nobody tries to lay claim to it, then they will remove the provisions on it. The title looks the same as any other title. I think it is just in their system with the conditions. _________________ ~Tarzan

use this VIN check when buying any car, whether or not it has a title.

Thanks for the link Lind and great discussion as those of us in NJ can't do a thing without a title in hand and that doesn't mean from title companies. I'm really glad I have mine but I will check this out for my future bus

I've seen this bus in person and the pics don't do it justice. The roof and gutters are solid on it, not even a pinhole. Not for an amateur but definitely a saveable bus The rear cargo floor is 80% still there. The front top hat area, front floorboards and wheel wells etc will need some serious work done though.
I've tried to persuade the seller to keep and fix it but he's got lots of busses.
Some more pics:

I like the deluxe luggage bar on the front bulkhead!!
Someone should buy the dairy queen half bus and this camper from Alex to make a good one and then he would have the funds to finish his Binz. I think he has his priorities in order!!
Wish I had the space and time. _________________ Grapes of Wrath $200 Engine Rebuild

The "half bus" should be the donor for this one, not the other way around.
It's a shame for this 56 panel to get parted or hacked up when virtually all the metal it needs is available from KF or WW, no sweat. |

It was $6,500. Heck of a good deal I think, and yes from a good seller/person as well. |
