Excellent tire. Too bad they don't make the 27/ 8.5 R14 anymore. That is what I have on my bus. _________________ nothing |

What? Chinese tires on Scania trucks?

what I saw was their pics of their trucks are backwards.. or mirror image. Just typical bad editing. _________________ 78 Riviera

Hercules Power CV - The Hercules tires here are free UPS ground shipping, to my address at least. It did take about 2 weeks for them to come, though.
https://www.buywheelstoday.com/products/Power+CV.bwt
I have these on my Eurovan, they seem pretty good so far. I plan on getting a couple for the bus. _________________ Mark

Hercules Tires are actually made by Cooper. Decent tire at a decent price. Did you get the 195R14 8 ply tires for $86 each? |

I actually bought two for my eurovan, none for the bus yet. But yes, the two I bought for the eurovan were the 205 70 R15 for $89 a piece, or $178 dropped off at my door. _________________ Mark

I just fitted some Continentals to my camper.
"The ContiVanContact 100 is an all-round talent that can not only easily cope with poor road surfaces and heavy loads, but which also offers a high mileage. Its specially reinforced carcass and sturdy sidewall, the stone-deflecting tread design, and the strong scuff protection strip on the sidewall make the tire a particularly robust load carrier. We have managed to reduce rolling resistance by 10% in comparison to the successful predecessor model – offering yet another advantage to transport companies who run Sprinters and similar vans and for whom speed and timeliness are the key in the distribution business. Continental has 14 sizes available with diameters ranging from 14 to 16 inches and load-bearing capacities up to a load index of 115 (1,215 kg per tire)."
These tyres are 8 ply,i had some Semperit make before but they were old and slightly cracked so I replaced them with these.
The difference is very much noticeable! Less rolling resistance, very stable in high winds and very good in the wet.
I wonder if these tyres are available in the states? _________________ ---------------------------------------------------------

What? Chinese tires on Scania trucks?
A curious experience with Chinese made tires. A friend of mine bought a couple of those Chinese ATV's for his kids several years ago. They were OK, but the tires smelled like poop. Literally. If they were in the sun, and you walked near them, you checked your shoes for dog bombs. |
Like most Chinese rubber products we get here... improperly cured rubber! The putrid outgassing means they'll likely get dry & crack the outside rubber, maybe even before the tread wears out! OTOH the cheap production cost makes great profit margins for some in China and many retailers here. IMO they're useable for my hand truck, but not ever for a bus. YMMV _________________ Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

Here's another one for those who love whitewalls. Never thought I'd see the day.
The ad will expire soon. I emailed him and the reply was Victorun as the brand name.

The PO for my bus replaced the stock wheels with 15 inch ones from a beetle ("smoothies"). I am trying to verify that the the 195/70-15 is the correct size.
I do not want to change to 14" wheels unless there is no choice. _________________ 1970 Deluxe Sunroof Bay Brilliant Blue/Cloud White

That's cool
Wheels intended for a vehicle less than half it's weight. Round up all the people you don't like and take them for a ride down the highway.
In addition of the bus weighing more than twice what those wheels were designed for the bus will exert side forces on the wheels that a bug never possibly could.
As far as your question, it doesn't matter at all what tires you use on those wheels. _________________ 71 Superbug

15" wheel Buses usually have 205/75R15s or even 215s (bigger but should fit) _________________ How to Post Photos

I'm curious if there has ever actually been a wheel failure like you posit. _________________ nothing |

I've been curious about this for some time now. And "because they're designed different" is a valid answer, but not the right one. _________________ Wash your hands

Seen tons of "bug" wheels on buses at shows, but typically the chromies type. Not for me, but I guess hippies have been doing crazier things with buses for years. _________________ MAKE FORUMS GREAT AGAIN

There's no doubt that the rims will work. It's how long they will last under the pressure of the bus. If you have a show bus that doesn't get driven much, no problem. If you drive your bus often and use it for camping or hauling I'm would say stick to the 14s or buy a set of split 15s that can handle the weight better. Why chance it. _________________ __________

This is similar to the debate of using an oil cooler infront of the shroud, we say you shouldn't do it but people do, and do it for extended periods of time.
I'm not disgreeing that people should use bus wheels, I jut want to know why beetle rims are not an option for longevity.
How are beetle rims structurally different? A bus has 14x5 where a typical beetle rim is 15x4.5. Did the factory use a different weding technique, less welds, or use weaker steel? _________________ Wash your hands

Five lug Beetle are 15X4. Split Bus 15 is 15X4.5.
I've seen plenty of Beetle smoothies installed by idiots on Buses, Split and Bay. Usually with a bad fitting tire as well. The impression I usually get is that other issues will stop the Bus ("Hey, man, what's that smell? And that sound?") long before the wheel's strength becomes an issue. _________________ 2000 M Roadster

I have been looking for these tires up here in Canada. No luck The highest load rating I have found in this size is 88T.
Anyone know where I can find these Triangle tires in North America? _________________ 1973 Campmobile rustoration in progress..
