buyitnowtire on evil bay. This tire is fairly new to the states. Rides great, very "quiet tire". I will update as miles are added. I got away with car tires for years but they won't cut it anymore (I started blowing belts as soon as got hot out). I'm sure tire are engineered to the edge of what they can get away with. Over engineered anything is long gone in the modern age..... _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |

I really like the look of the BFG AT's, but since my bus will see mostly 70-75mph interstate miles, would it be better to go with the RA's?
Anyone with BFG's spend the majority of the time on the freeway/highway? Would you rather have more of a street/touring tire? _________________ 1979 Deluxe Westy in Mexico Beige |

For those kinds of speeds, and mostly on open highways, stick with the Hankooks. _________________ nothing |

BFGs are heavier than my old Vancos, but look better. Seem fine to me, but I am not always on the highway either. Your call. _________________ MAKE FORUMS GREAT AGAIN

Would the BFG AT really be that loud? I was planning on getting them for my camper and it would be doing quite a bit of highway driving and hopefully some light off road to get to camp sites. |

I have BFG's on my 70 camper. Wind and engine noise are more noticeable than tire noise. I don't have much for sound deadening, though. In fact, no rear interior panels or floor covering right now, just a Westy bed and a Riv pop top. But when I have it packed with gear or piled high with swap stuff that dampens the engine noise, I still don't really notice the tire noise. BFG's aren't known as a noisy tire, even with the off-road-ish tread. _________________ nothing |

Thanks. I know what my next tire will be then. Now I need to get original stock 14 inch wheels. |

I decided it is time to get a new set of tires. I have 3 driveable Vanagons and the 1971 Dormobile that I can put them on.
My first intent was just put a brand new set on the Dormobile, because it is for sale and it is much nicer driving with brand new CORRECT tires. Currently I have one set of Agillis 81 which I bought new on my 1991. they are exactly 10 years old and have about 50k miles and are just fine.
But another set of Agillis on my 87 Wolfie Westy daily driver have about 85k miles on them and now in the last year 2 of the 4 have broken belts. (not that they owe me much, my friend Max gave me these about 8 years ago and I think they had 60,000 on them then!)
So I guess I really need MORE THAN 4!
I bought the cheapest ones I could find and they are the Chinese GOFORM (Dumb Name) tires from Tires Easy on the Ebay site. (Tires-Easy is owned by Delticom, which is a big German company, I think.)
Price was $282.80 with free freight! It took 6 days and:
THEY LOOK BEAUTIFUL! LOAD RATED AT 1865LB AT 65PSI.
The tread is more open than an Agillis, sorta like the Hankooks but a bit more siping.
We will see! Whoever buys this Dormie is gonna like them. And I'll have to buy more.
I've bought about 12 Hankooks from Ron (Bus Depot) over the years and really been very happy with them (AND BUS DEPOT) but these are ALMOST 1/2 PRICE! $282 VS $480!

HUH? Me? the GOFORM's? Tires-easy.com A delticom company.
and, really, there is only one correct STOCK C-rated size, and that is 185R-14C.
I guess Hankook make 195's. 205/70's 6pr and 7.00-14 have not bee made for over a decade.
That my main aim right now, stock, restored condition.
Perhaps someday, I will try something bigger and then it is a challenge to get a load rated tire.
But for ON- road driving within the speed limit, no size is better.

Well I took the plunge on the BFG's, just under 600 out the door, including mounting and balancing.
I did this mainly for the looks of them, and the fact that the PO installed 2 passenger tires on the rear.
I will post pics once they are installed, I hope they aren't too hard on my engine or MPG, or top speed, I have been consistently driving in the 70-75 mpg range. _________________ 1979 Deluxe Westy in Mexico Beige |

did a quick search, and never found these below $210 EACH! I'll drive on the BFG's any day for half that price. _________________ nothing |
