Ok then, last weekend at Badger Creek Wilderness in Oregon. Well, just outside the protected wilderness boundary along Little Badger Creek. Very remote place, about 2 1/2 hours from Portland. Deep canyons, weird combination of pines and oaks. A transition zone. Got stuck in a snowdrift on the way in, I'm holding the salvation up - tire chains! Then it snowed 2 days later overnight, kinda thought we'd get stuck in there.
All was well. Looking forward to warmer weather tho!

Hambone, that's one of my favorite areas. When I first started going into Badger Lake it was a serious 4x4 road and great float tube fly fishing. Now that they have grated and smoothed out the road it's just not the same. I saw a damn Acura Integra up there the last time. I almost had to spend the night in my Jeep CJ7 one year in early June when I got stuck in a thick wet snow drift that was about a foot and a half deep under the shadows up there. Would have been a long walk out but someone came along and pulled me out. I returned the favor about a mile down the road when he got stuck.
Here's a few of the bus in the wild.

Hey Tim, thanks. Yeah that top one is in the Sierras just outside of Lone Pine on the way back from BBB. I think that's very near Bridgeport? A couple hours south of Mammoth. Butt ass cold that morning at about 15°. The second one is at the BLM land the night before BBB. The third was last year in the Sawtooth Mtn's in Idaho and the last one is two years ago in the Hells Canyon wilderness area in Eastern OR. That canyon behind my bus is actually the Imnaha River valley. _________________ Jasan C.

That was on the way up to Hat Point in Hells Canyon. North East Oregon. You take the highway out of Joseph to Imnaha and then start a long hard climb up to the top of the canyon at 7000ft. First gear and steep grade for about ten miles. This picture was taken at the first viewpoint in this link.

yup...big horn sheep are always around that spot in Kananaskis...about 1 hour from Calgary
We've seen Bears, Moose, Sheep, Deer, Mountain Lions (cougar), and loads of other wildlife...
as for bent rear bumpers....I think if you use your camper for...camping, it's bound to happen
Although I didn't bang up the rear...I did bang up the front

deadBeat Dave~ Your interior looks just like mine. Aha ha! You are another day-glow yellow green machine, but sleuthing under a plain black wrapper.
Have you ever definitively learned the name of the yellow green color? Using type2 and samba resources I think it's called Ravenna Green, but I've seen a color chip for Bali Green that looks very close as well. The keepers of the knowledge of 74-75 Westfalia trivia don't seem to have all the details available online.
Oh yes, my dog OWNS the drivers seat when he's in the bus, and he only lets me sit in it when I'm taking him somewhere. _________________ `

Westy78 I hunt elk up in the Imnaha area when I can get home during hunting season. Really like that area. I don't have any pictures of my bus in the wild yet. Haven't had the chance to take it out since I got it from my dad but plan on many camping and fishing adventures this summer |
