I'm I uhaul dealer, that trailer is only $55 a day and it's really nice.

You guys can cry for the buses in this find from Saturday, but here in Wisconsin we are overjoyed to find them in this condition!

If you go over to Facebook page I have a bunch of pics posted too

Got back at 5am this morning after a solo trip to bring home this 1957 Palm Green/Sand Green bus I have been watching for a while.
I first saw the bus in a video on youtube, with some research found the name of the owner and through that found his phone number.
Incredibly nice Idaho rancher who purchased it 15 years ago to use the transmission for his Baja project.
We settled on a price, basically scrap price, and then long month before my college finals were over commenced.
The day after my last final, I rented a truck and trailer, and set out. At 1am, I rolled into twin falls Idaho, and slept a few hours. I woke up at 6am to finish the last 1 hour leg of the trip to his ranch.
I then spent a few hours getting it on all fours and getting the transmission (which didn’t end up going his Baja) into the bus.
I then set off on the 12 hour drive back home to Sonoma County.
Here she is!
Hasn't been registered since 1973.

I think that definitely counts as hunting - great detective work and great score - it does look very solid.

Cheers,

Three years ago a very non vw friend told me his tuba player had a rusty old vw bus down in Waco. I called him and he agreed if it ever sold I got first right of refusal. We became friends over the years and always call or text randomly or send stupid pictures and shit. The tuba's players father needed some bread so he finally sold me the 61 mango. So we agreed on a price and I wired the money. Yesterday he loaded his 87 year old mother in the bus had his father follow him to a meeting spot halfway between us. He said it was great taking the bus on one more trip before handing it over. My bad ass brother in law has the bus loaded and is leaving for Tahlequah in the morning. It's bitter sweet finally buying this bus, in the three years we lost the friend that introduced us. RIP Eddie but I finally got the tuba mango! It's a daily driver too!
Here's the first pic I got three years ago:

There's a hefty penalty for exporting buses like that out of Idaho. I'm not sure what that fine is yet, but I'm sure bonecollector, Lind and cdennisg can help me come up with something.

Well done sir.

Just got back in town from two weeks away with very little internet access. Figured I should chime in here.

No penalty at all, since that was a great story with fantastic sleuthing. This is my recommendation. Great find. An absolutely great find. Well done indeed.
