Today I was in a situation where I needed to floor it in 1st gear. After doing so, the shifting got very stiff, it'll still get into every gear, but moving the shifter takes some effort.

I'm running about 165hp on a freeway flier (hardened shift keys, welded 3&4, stock diff). I'm also running meaty 235 tires, so it'll stress the tranny instead of spin the tires.

Any ideas on what got warped?...

My guess is the shift rod bushing fell out.

Totally ripped out the bolt holes off the nose of my tranny... I think I've been having too much fun with the subaru swap.

Thanks for the help!!!

Lol, I'll try to get some up soon!
I was able to get one nut on with a washer. I installed a strap kit and it rides much better. I also ordered a camber compensator and will build an engine brace to keep things still.

As promised.
The engine is not as exposed like the picture, I was just changing out the water pump and belt.

Thanks again Raul

Smile thanks guys. I've never posted it up anywhere before.
It was a fun and stressful summer project. It goes pretty good.

Next possible project will be a mid engine subaru turbo with a 5 speed....if I can save some $$$ and get some welding skills.

Have you seen the Subaru 5speed reverse Ring & Pinion setup by http://www.subarugears.com/ sells.
You keep it a rear engine car if you wanted to.

If you like to play hard eventually you are going to need to upgrade your trans.
When that time comes it not that much more then a high performance 4speed VW trans. Plus you have a extra gear for cruising on the freeway without the high RPMs.

The motor is strung pretty high when driving 95, but I see it is a good thing being limited to about 105...

Which is why I'm thinking about a jdm mid engine swap. Subaru 5/6 speed without the nearly $3,000 to swap it. Hell, the whole motor swap only cost me $1,400 max.

I was even thinking about machining and splining subaru axles into 930 cv joints to save even more $$$.

I know this poor little tranny will only hang on for so many beatings. So far it's doing just fine, I'm trying to roll on the power and not dumping the clutch
