bought a '63 Ghia project from a local guy. as we were talking he told me he had a vanity plate that said NO H20. he said he couldnt find it or he would give it to me. towed it home that night and the next morning after clearing out all the junk on the floor i found it! Cool last registered in 1993 the year he took it off the road to be restored. for now its on the front of my 1970 DD

Cool because:

They are original to the car - new plates (and a low number) in the first CA blue series put on the car when it was delivered new on Oct 6th 1970 in Davis CA.

They have been on the car ever since and will aways be on the car.

The original owner had the foresight to swap the front and rear plates after the first year in order to preserve the original 1970 validation sticker.

Haven't had my bug long enough for the plates to come in, but I ordered KAFER69 for my bug. Gotta find some blue round stickers to put over the A to make it legit Wink

And so I don't have to spell it out... KAFER is a german term for "beetle" Smile

My son and his surfin' buds used to drive from SoCal over here with their boards to spend the weekend at BigSurf in Tempe AZ. A fine wave pool that's been here forever.
