The first mid-engine car ran a 14 1/2 rear shock with a 350LB spring. The shock was built by Armstrong. The time was 1975. Note: that was a short axle gear box. Jerry Siemens built the Fiber-tech car back then and the shock went to 15". If you have the Volkswagen Greats 1976 February that's Jerry's mid-engine aluminum car. Jerry also built the 450lb Fiber-Tech car for Mark Russell 1980. I still have one of Jerry's cars somewere. What is your gear box short or long axles?

EV, is there any real difference in the air shock used in the front and back? Or is it just where they are mounted and aired up to?

I ask as I have spoted a pair of shocks from the front of a sand rail that would work (long enough) for the rear of my Fiber Tech chassis but I am unsure if they are heavy enough. The seller says he thinks they would be fine but I'd like to be sure before I spend the money.

Any ideas?

I'm really not sure if the valving is different or the length for that matter.

You may find your answer on their website.
