|
|
I ordered my 3x3 arms last night.
i'm going to order my fox coil overs soon, some people told me I need 10 inch shocks, some people told me I need 12 inch shocks.
Which ones do i have to get?
if this makes it easier to answer, i'm going to run 930's, and i'm mounting my shocks to my interior cage.
Another question.
i've read that 19 1/4" axles will fit 3x3s, but i've also read that that 20 1/4 will fit.
which ones should i get?
Sorry for being a newb. I just want to do my rear suspension right. |

if I were you run the 12" mount them as far out and forward on the arm so you can add some bypasses after you are tired of your rear end hopping all the time
as for tha axles 19.25 for 3x3 with bus trans, the longer for a stock trans
this is how I set my 14" coilovers then later after I tired of basketballing around the track I put some 12" and bypasses |

A stock IRS trans will require longer axles than the bus trans. Also, You'll have to buy different flanges for 930 axles. The 930 flanges for a type 1 transaxle do not fit a type 2 transaxle.
Axles will run nearly 150 bucks. Flanges are about 50. This is 200 dollars you will ahve to spend twice when you go from type 1 to type 2 transaxle.
I would wait till you can do the job right. Put the bus trans and the 3x3 arms in at the same time. |

I went with 2.5" x 14" shocks with 350 over 400 springs. i have bus cvs. with 930s you should be able to get more travel. Go Big! |

I have 3x3s with SAW coilovers, no bypasses, and my rear end doesn't hop around all the time?
I would say 14" shocks, you get more oil, less fading, and they still fit in the car quite well, they don't cost much more.
We need to know more about your car before recommending springs.
Baja or rail? ACVW engine? gas tank in front or rear? _________________ Member of the baja's that don't run club, for now!! |

shocks are better if mounted closer to the center of wheel vs farther up the arm.
I use fox 11 inch stroke with stock x 1 inch longer arms SAW 25mm torsions and i dont get any rear end hopping over whoops.
Bought shocks used and they were revalved i guess i got very lucky they were right on.PO put a heavier motor in his car and had the shocks revalved but they didnt work out from going vw to a gm 4.3 |

I'd go for 14" shocks and 19 1/4" axles. That's what I have
