Hello...1st post in this great looking forum. My daughter bought her 1st car, a ‘76 bus and we are looking for a good gasket kit to replace the leaky seals in the existing sunroof. I’ve searched the forums to no avail so far...any info on parts and tips for replacement greatly appreciated...or links to old posts on this topic. I’ll try to post a few photos of the bus. We’re very excited to be the new stewards of this cool old vehicle! Many thanks in advance for any help! 🙏 |

Welcome!
If that's a factory sunroof it uses no seals, there's a felt strip to stop whistles, but water is allowed to run past into the drain pan underneath it. If you are getting water inside the bus it's likely the drain tubes in each corner are plugged, or the hoses connecting them have rotted. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.
Please don't PM technical questions, ask your problem in public so everyone can play along. If you think it's too stupid post it here

Great to know...Thank you! We will check the drain tubes and maybe run a small brush down inside. I imagine the only way to find out if the hoses are compromised is to pull the headliner down?? |

Awesome post...so helpful and Thank you again. I located all the drains and cleared one minor clog, and flushed everything so it seems to be draining well. I couldn't seem to find the passenger side rear drain hole exit, I'll need to look a little harder...I noticed the water slowly draining out behind an opening in the rear inner fender well I believe, so I'll investigate further.
Any tips on who sells the best felt liner kit for the sunroof? I definitely need to replace! Thanks again for all your help...Best Wishes |
