My glass has the same issues. The ad should read DOS, damaged old stock. |

Mine also has the same issues. Nothing that I notice unless I look. From what I've been told, if you spray cleaner, like Windex directly on the glass that some of it seeps back and cruds up the silvering.
DOS? That's about it. And for that price...maybe should go in the "Whine..." thread.
I checked the VW part number on mine and it's 211 857 501. _________________ Jerry

Here is a stock, unrestored original 1967 only interior rear view mirror assembly that is original to my Jan 1967 Kombi Campmobile. Notice the unique black rubber bumper mounted to the center post and resting against the mirror stem...
The original mirror backing is aluminum, I think the black plastic versions seen earlier in this thread are perhaps a replacement style? I have another '67 mirror assembly in my parts storage, and it too is aluminum (I removed it from a '67 Deluxe carcass over 25 years ago. These mirrors are offset on the stem, not centered like the 1966 and earlier interior mirror.

Bill, it looks like the rubber support shifted a bit on yours.
Here's mine:

So does anyone know where to find a replacement one of those little rubber mirror supports?

My late '67 pearl white Westfalia has an aluminum bodied mirror and it is the original. Owned since 1967!
