| How long until Best Buy sells those off to pay for the lawsuit they got on their hands. I guess I could be persuaded to drive that thing if it was all expenses paid. |

Maybe he means this?
| Quote: | | Attorneys are investigating claims that the Geek Squad at Best Buy violates the privacy of customers having their personal computers and laptops serviced. Allegations include unauthorized viewing of personal files, information and pictures while the computers are left with the Geek Squad resulting in embarrassment, breach of confidentiality, and fear of dissemination of personal information. |

| I know here in Northern California there was a big problem going on between CHP and Best Buy about those vehicles. CHP was targeting and citing these vehicles because it violated a vehicle code about painting vehicles the same color scheme as a law enforcement vehicle. So Best Buy changed things the paint a little, but you still don't see those on the road as much. I thought it was kinda funny. Who'd going to confuse one of those cars for a crown victoria? |

Quoting from the URL posted above:
| Quote: | If Best Buy or the Geek Squad have viewed personal files, information and pictures without authorization, you may qualify for damages or
remedies that may be awarded in a possible class action lawsuit. Please click the link below to submit your complaint and we will have a
lawyer review your complaint. |
This is not meant as a slam on non-techies...
But the lawyers are depending on the people who are technically-challenged (to be PC) to tell them that their computer files have been
accessed w/out their consent. If the ppl are taking their PCs to BB/GS to begin with, then they probably aren't going to be able to tell
their files have been accessed, unless BB/GS doesn't clear the history of the DOCs menu, and such.
I don't think Joe Six-Pack or Martha Homemaker are going to be able to tell... but of course, that won't matter.
As long as the lawyers can add ppl to the roster to up the damages award (and their percentage of profit from the case) this will persist.
10 to 1 says BB/GS add a clause that says something along the lines of 'we may be required to access files to determine
the cause of damage or to insure that the repair has been completed successfully.'
I mean, how else are we gonna catch Pedophiles who take their computers in for service? _________________ Cheers,
Dave
