I had a great experience with Reliable Carriers. I bought a 1957 Oval from an ad on The Samba. The car was in Texas. I called Reliable and about a week later, the car was in my driveway in Florida. Their rates are a little steep, but the care of the car and the communication between myself, the seller and the carrier was top notch. I would recommend them to anyone shipping in the continental U.S. _________________ 1957 Deluxe Oval Ragtop

I booked a transport through Uship, which is an auto transport brokerage. I paid a $400 deposit only to have the shipper abscond with the deposit. When I contacted Uship about my loss, they gave me a hale and hearty, "Sorry 'bout that". I will certainly avoid doing business with them again.
My advice to anyone contracting for a shipment is to NEVER pay a deposit. The shipper has your vehicle in his possession and that should always be sufficient collateral. The only terms should be; 'payment in full upon delivery to the specified destination. My impression is that honest shippers readily operate on these terms.
Anyone who requires a deposit probably has something up their sleeve or they are not on a solid financial basis with their business. |

Sorry to here that, I don't transport near you. But if I did you would have to pay up front. Then we would do the haul for you on your schedule, you should check the feed back for all transport ccompanies. Even if it's on a forum that we don't all use. Such as craigslist rants and raves or special auto sites and see who they use.
It never hurts to ask around. Sometimes in my case, its better to use the little guys, even though we might cost more we are more likely to get the job done..
Better luck next time.

I wish I would have fond this thread first before I checked for a quote on a website that you punch in the zips and your email then for weeks to come Ive been getting 3 emails a day from all these carrier places with quotes from $600.00 to $1,200.00
The way the site read I thought I was getting a quote from them to transport but as it turns out they send your email out to every carrier in the US and most of them I never heard of (haha) crazy.
I guess I'll just have to deal with 21 emails a week for an uncertain amount of time until they stop _________________ Got me a 65, I am air cool now |

I recently had a successful shipment of a syncro westy from Palm Springs, California, to Western Pennsylvania, but it was sure tiresome dealing with the brokers. I ended up going with Rite Way Auto Shipping, and was mostly happy, although the communication plummeted after they received my deposit. I was getting three phone calls a day from Kevin, and once I agreed, he wouldn't answer my email. I talked with two other companies, but went with Rite Way because someone I knew had used them and liked them.
What I have learned through this process is that the brokers are very aggressive and will badmouth the competition and BS you. There is also a certain amount of luck involved. The driver that dropped off my van was rear-ended along the way, and a BMW being transported was totaled. It could just have easily have been my van sitting in that spot. I think you have to just take your chances and hope for the best.

| I just had a vw rat rod delivered to Wisconsin from Utah. It was my first time doing this. Naturally I was quite nervous in who to pick. I went on the advice posted on Samba to use Glory auto Transport. After talking to Grace I found out that they run their own buisness and rarely use any one else to haul. To make a long story short, Lee delivered the car in about a week and every thing worked out well. It was 1400.00 in an enclosed trailer. It was one of the more resonable rates that I found. I would recommend them to haul a vehicle. Also my car did not run and was extremely low. |

| I just had a 58 RAG I purchased shipped from the Los Angeles area to the Atlanta area for 794.00. I used four corners auto transport. Ellen was very helpful in providing me with up to date info. Four corners is a auto broker and they used PK lines. The car took 9 days from pickup to delivery on an open trailer. I would recommend them. |

Just used Angel's Moving Autos and I couldn't be happier. The car was shipped from Colorado to California.
Even though we had some serious rain, the car was delivered on time (actually early) and in great condition.
Megan and Melissa from Angel's moving Autos were both very nice and had great communication skills. |

I don't know if it has been mentioned in here already but whatever you wind up shipping, make sure the battery is held down tightly. Ask me how i know this... _________________

| three weeks ago i shipped como panels via greyhound for a canadian enthusiast willing to pick up in flint. local operators at my station tell me a flint staff person suffered two broken arms and they could not hire a replacement at the station. [not sure if it was on the job] therefore packages were diverted and scattered to other stations. the panels are seemingly untrackable so far with receipt and gli number. my phone inquiries to the flint station and the big-big office were met with the usual greyhound phone assistance- phone rings, phone trees, bad. got an email in. meanwhile i'm tempted into thinking something like this could actually be true. mostly i'm concerned about the panels much more so than the insurance. otherwise, never a glitch with the dog in ten year of shipping. |

I had a similar incident in which I was having some NOS fenders shipped from Ohio to Los Angeles via Greyhound...the sellers/Greyhound adhesive shipping label fell off the box and the fenders ended up in Texas at the Greyhound distribution/lost & found center...Fortunately I had a photo of the OG VW carton and the helpful folks there were able to locate them, but this took months to track them down! If you're shipping Greyhound make sure the shipper uses a felt tip marker to write the recipients name, address and PHONE NUMBER and DELIVERY TERMINAL in multiple places on the packaging...this way if the adhesive Greyhound label goes south they can still get ahold of the recipient. Wonder how many VW parts are in the Greyhound Lost & Found? _________________

|

I think I finally found a honest shipping broker. Above the Rest Auto Transport, Larry. As he had me on the phone he picked up another phone and called the actual vehicle transport company and lined up the pick up. It was great instead of some broker posting it and you have to wait and see if anyone takes the bid. Yes he charged me $100.00 fee up front but that was after he got the vehicle lined up for pick up. Then he gave me the guys number and I talked with him direct. His number is 954-815-9803. There are many brokers but he was the first that did it as you talked with him so he does work for the $100.00 instead of sitting on there hands. I do not understand why they all don't do that. |

Excellent service from American Auto Transport. http://Autotransportaat.com
Single driver, single truck service. I was given the driver's direct phone number.
I had a very tight delivery window because I was bringing the bus across the border. That can only be done Monday to Friday between 8 and 4 pm. The truck was waiting for us at exactly the time planned with the bus unloaded and ready to go.
The driver even drove the bus onto the rented trailer for me.
The price was much more reasonable than the other places I called too.
I wouldn't hesitate to use them again for a move. |
