Bought the car in 1990, first pictures are from 1991, in fact it was with loose fenders when I bought it, but put them on the first day I owned the car, and got the plates on it the week after. Been on plates after that. Painted in 1992, the Webasto roof mounted in 2011/2012.

Before: 1964 Ghia Cabriolet, purchased late summer 1983 in northern NJ. Orange '70 Ghia in left background was parts car bought Oct. 1983 for its solid chassis to mount the '64 body.
After: Final bodywork (to correct my rust panel repair brazing) and exterior paint done spring 1988 at Autohaus Lancaster VW in PA. Car has kept this overall appearance and driven each year except for 2014. Photo below is from New Year's Day 2012.

Bought it Matte black and noticed the poor rattle canned look decided to apply a bit of elbow grease and get that beautiful blue back to view

a few months after I bought it.
most recent pic. some may not like the direction it went but the paint was coming off in sheets. looked like a spotted cow when I stripped it off.

The before and after of my 1962 Sunroof Bug. The befores are the day I bought it off of eBay about 8 years ago. I thought it was hideous with the two-tone velour interior, front way up, bad window tint, a sunroof cover that didn't fit and was improperly installed...but it was a sunroof car in decent shape that ran.
The afters, well, some would argue it's even more hideous. This isn't what I intended to do to the car, but it just kind of took on a life of it's own. I intended to do a really nice paint job, but while I was working on it mechanically I started just painting graffiti stuff on it for fun until I was ready to media blast and paint. Then it kept growing. Then I couldn't stop. So I went with it...change of plans.
