4 days and no help?

Here's my 1915T thread: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=212747

Put an FK-8 in it, set static compression to 8:1, run a T3 turbo with a DCOE carb and haul ass. There's many different ways to do this, mine is only one example.

Before swapping my 69 crank to an 82 my 1914 turbo with a W120 cam sounded very lopey at idle (8:1). Same cam in my 2276 turbo is still noisy, but nothing like the sound of the 1914. t3 turbo (switched over to a gt33 when I went to more displacement) and a holley 500 2bbl. Get a good ignition box that can retard timing under boost (I have the Mallory HyfireIV).

They key to a good streetable turbo motor is to build a bad ass N/A street motor and then add a turbo.

My 1914 build was done with an engle W 120 cam w 1.25 rockers, A quality pair of ported and polished 40x35.5 valve heads. 9.5:1 cmpression. Motor made a little over 145 hp N/A. added a T3-60-1 turbo draw threw with a 600 cfm holley 4 barrel. boost was set at 8 PSI and I added an MSD 6 BTM for boost timing retard. Driven regularly on teh street the car averaged 24 mpg with 91 fuel. On teh week ends I added 114 fuel took a little less timing out and the 2060# car with driver would click off 11.40 @ 118 MPH
