A super rusty and low ghia that I saw at the 2015 Eureka Springs VW show in Arkansas. The car was running and driving strong with some built motor and was structurally solid. I was amazed Shocked .

^^^^ There is no way that car would be running on public roads on this side of the pond.

Same thought just went through my head!
I'm quite shocked that they would be allowed over there too.
All that sharp rusty metal would make a pretty nasty mess of someones limbs if they were unlucky to be hit by them.
Quite ironic too, when you think of what happened to the MGB's bumpers because of US safety law!

The Stinger is a no go over here too...poor little Johnny getting a nasty burn on his hand or leg...no engine cover, the list would be endless. Rolling Eyes

So how are these 8sec drag cars that sit 50mm off the ground, with funny car style roll cages, full tube chassis, TTV8 1000+hp meth snorting engines with side pipes and giant slicks etc etc registered in the UK?

I guess anything can be registered anywhere....it's just a matter of how long it lasts on the road before the cops get to you.

Not sure about Oklahoma but here in Texas if you register the car as an antique there's no inspection process. Antiques are 50 years old so 1965 and back. It's limited to 2500 miles a Year but no one is checking and if you get pulled over the car is expected to have original equipment. IE if it had seat belts or wipers or turn signals they have to be present. However on my 1930 chopped 5 window ford coupe, not so much. One taillight, no turn signals and
A hand crank windshield wiper.

God I love texas.
