Unfortunately this is NOT a VW related tachometer.
It will fit as it's 80mm but is original equipment for another make of car, can't remember exactly now but ?? NSU
Have seen them sell in Germany for around $100-150
People sell them as VW accessories to raise the price, just like Ford clocks Wink

It's not a Volkswagen gauge. It's a standard gauge design dating from the late 1930's to late 1940's, probably originally installed on some type of German military equipment.

Do you still have those VDO 'Jet Cockpit' gauges? I'm searching for a set for my VW Type 181. Would love to give them a good home if you still have them! Thanks.

Today I installed an Auber SYL-2813 as a dual channel CHT gauge...

This little guy really seems to fit the bill. Dual channel, hi/lo alarms, will trigger a relay at a temp you specify. It works with all the different thermocouple types. Can be used for oil pressure, CHT, EGT, Boost, etc. Oh, and it's cold junction compensated. All for about $87 shipped. My type J thermocouple wire cost $20 so that's dual CHT monitors for under 100 bucks. Not bad. Now if I could just do a decent job of mounting it...

Here's the link. http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5_21&products_id=357

Hello again, back again with more Panzer fun.

I'm helping a gentleman in the UK restore a StuG III D and (because I obviously have a weird obsession Razz) I am trying to find out if any of the gauges on this Panzer III instrument panel (apart from the tachometer) can be found as exact copies or put-a-new-face-plate-on-it-and-nobody-will-know derivatives "in the wild:"

Here's what I see:

- Ivory VDO speedometer 0-100 kmh, right hand zero, with trip and regular odometer
- Ivory pressure gauge 0-12 kg/cm^2, left hand zero, with indications at 0, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 6, and 12.
- Ivory water temperature gauge 0-120 C, left hand zero, with indications at 0, 60, 80(?), 100, and 120.

I have a different, high resolution picture of the gauges as mounted on a StuG instrument panel but I am hesitant to upload it as I am not the author. If anyone is interested to see the photo, PM me and I will send you the photo.

Best,
JOVE23

PS: I was told earlier to talk to the guys in Poland who fabricate gauges for Kubels, etc. Would anyone know how to get in touch with them?

I can probably repro the gauges. I would need to know the dimensions of the existing sending units so I can substitute modern sending units. I'd also need to know the gear ratio of the gearbox sending unit for the speedometer. If I can find modern or N.O.S. gauges with housings that have the same dimensions as the original gauges, price would be about $200 each for oil p.s.i./water temp gauges and about $600.00 for a speedometer.

looking for some help, i picked this gauge up a few years ago and now that my car is coming together i figured i would look at it again.

i have no idea how to hook it up
it has a + on it a G on it and a ground terminal

my next question does anybody know what i'm missing on how to mount it to my tank or what the terminals on the sending unit are for?

Unfortunately this is not an original face and is a reproduction. The 2500 on all 0-5000 VDO tachs bar none is dead center 12 O clock. A line running from 2500 goes exactly through the center of the needle and through the D in VDO. No exceptions. The right hand face screw is way off the 4 in the number 40. Only a correct face that matches a correct case number is an original.

Scored a 9/56 dated Fuel gauge for my Oval this week.

Chasing a period correct fuel sender unit, the VDO booklet mentions it is neck mounted. Been watching the classifieds and every VW forum on the Internet for 12 months with no luck.

My location ie Australia may be the issue also. Does anyone have any suggestions who may sell them or be willing to part with one?

Any suggestions or leads would be greatly appreciated.
